• Math Wizards Unite!

  This year math has become one of our strongest subjects! Not only are we excited to learn new concepts, but we also have so many great math games, tools, and posters to stimulate our math brains!   Our "Books for Healing" collection has given us countless opportunities to gather healthy coping strategies when we aren't feeling our best. We take deeper breaths, we engage in conversations about boundaries and consent, and we often stop to think before we let feelings like anger, sadness, and frustration get the best of us. We have YOU to thank for these opportunities because we have so many great books to remind us! • Reading Is Really Cool!

  Thank you for your generosity! We received an entire collection of "Who Is?" books and students were thrilled! During our informational reading/writing units we were able to utilize the books to peak student interest on different BIPOC figures in history! We worked on comparing and contrasting, building connections between ourselves and the heroes featured in the books, and students were able to collaborate with one another and discuss what they've learned. In a virtual space, reading looks like scanning a few pages and putting them onto Google Slides so students can access them and annotate them. It was certainly different from in-person collaboration, but the students still loved it! Again, thank you for this incredible gift that will be used for years to come!”

• Ready, Set, Summer, WRITE!

  Funded May 28, 2020

  Students were incredibly excited to receive their hard cover writing notebooks along with a high quality pen and stickers to match their individual personalities. Writing is something that we enjoy doing in the classroom, so when the pandemic hit we tried our best to replicate that experience of writing our individual truths. The donations we received gave each student an opportunity to continue their self expression as well as write over the summer break. I was able to get in touch with students who read pages to me and shared their inspiration. Your generosity helped my students and I connect while away from one another. Most importantly, you helped continue the strengthening of a core skillset in third grade, writing!”

• Diversity & Inclusion Books

  Because of your generous donations we have been able to create a virtual environment filled with diverse and inclusive read alouds. Students have engaged in discussions about gender, race, indigenous groups, injustices, pronouns, and immigration. We have been able to embark on various lessons because of the gifts you have given us. Whether students see a live reading (by me!) or if students view a recorded reading (by me, also!) they are able to delve into eye-opening worlds that help them make connections and build their empathy and compassion for the people in the world around them. My students see themselves represented in the literature and they are excited every time I share a new read aloud! So thank you, thank you for giving us this beautiful collection of books. You not only supplied us with amazing resources, but these books are the seeds that will help grow amazing human beings who will lead this world one day! You are so appreciated!”

• Distance Learning with Mx. Orozco's Class!

  Thank you for being part of the ripple effect that stems from the teacher to the student. The supplies you have helped us get have created a distance learning environment that supports all student learning styles. Our class printer has given us virtual flexibility in organizing, data collecting, and creating hard copies for students who are disconnected. I have been able to create engaging lessons using the various markers that we've received. The binders, files, and hole-puncher we received have allowed us to keep track of student growth in a more organized manner. Without these items and the many more we received, I do not believe that we would be as successful in our distance learning as we have been. Every item on that list has made the virtual classroom experience more seamless and we owe you for that. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank you for investing in and believe in us.
