Warm Cozy Winter
Funded Feb 13, 2019Thank you so much, for your warm fuzzy donations. Having these jackets kept our students warm and cozy during this harsh winter. Some of our kids move from shelter to shelter needed this more than you are I can ever imagine. Also the children felt a sense of belonging as they received their gifts.
To see their faces light up as they felt in unity was a most joyous feeling. The coats also helped children concentrate better so they can focus on their studies.
Your generosity is overwhelming, thank you!”

Early Essentials
Funded Oct 15, 2018Your donations have helped my students write across the subject areas, and use hands on materials during mathematics. In mathematics we are learning about arrays or repeated addition and acting out stories using models. The tiles you have provided my students have made math more concrete and understandable for my students. Math is in everything, in the future we will be using the rulers to learn about measurement. Thank you for helping me obtain these materials for these students and those in years to come. In addition, the stickers for their birthdays made the kids feel very special. Once again, thank you!”

Technology Takes You Places
Funded Mar 27, 2018There has been an amazing transformation in my class. My students were coming late on a daily basis. Then I offered to help some of them in the morning, before school began. I realized more of my students wanted to come in early. My students began to come in early in hopes of getting to be lucky enough to get a computer to use. Since obtaining these computers more students are coming in early to utilize them for reading and math. I can also now put more computers out for students at centers ( The kids love to read on the computer). These Lenovo computers free my time to help other students master the skills in reading. Everyone wins!
Your generosity is overwhelming.”

Funded Mar 1, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation! When my students saw the chairs they were filled with amazement. The wobble chairs help my students in many ways. We take turns using them and the kids can hardly wait for their turn. It is such a great product.
Wobble chairs are the perfect addition to my classroom. During any subject restless students can now still move around without disrupting the rest of the class. With these chairs I will no longer have to tell children to take a seat, because they will want to be sitting, and they can still move increasing core muscle tone and posture at the same time. Active sitting is much healthier then sitting still. Active sitting can lead to active minds and more active learning. Students can fidget around and work at the same time. Plus, they are so much fun to sit on, I wish I had one when I was a kid.”

Funded Dec 20, 2016Thank you so much for the wonderful Chromebooks. These Chromebooks are helping my students learn English vocabulary as some are very new to the United States and don't speak English. In addition they are learning letter sounds and phonemic awareness. Students are able to use the computers to access reading programs to build their reading comprehension and vocabulary. Students also have an opportunity to access mathematic programs to help them improve skills in that area.
My students love the new Chromebooks. They are lightweight and easy to handle. They are easy to sign into. They love working on things at their level and not being lost in the class, or bored. Students at higher levels that finish their work can be enriched using programs on the internet.
Thank you for helping me to help my students to learn.”

We Will Soar with Supplies
Funded Aug 6, 2016Dear Donors,
As school starts tomorrow and I have already received the supplies, I have been able to set up my classroom to make it warm and inviting. These supplies will help to give them a good start and strong year.
I can't wait to see them use the vocabulary match ups, as I have seen them be very successful with students transitioning to the English Language. This center will be lively and fun. Also, the Paw- patrol books, I know some of my former students loved reading these books as they watched the cartoon. Students become very engaged.
I can't wait to see my students imaginations grow along with their fine motor skills. All the art supplies you purchased will be used to enhance learning, these are the fun things the kids love to do. Thank you for your generous donation, it will make the student's school year that much better.”

Reading Is Fun
Funded Dec 31, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donation to the "Reading is Fun" project. I am trying to make reading more attainable to my lower level students who are just learning to read. With these books they will learn beginning and ending sounds as well as middle sounds. They will also be able to chunk and identify new words in English. All of my students come from varying countries around the world and are on various reading levels.
Now any child can go to the library and find a book on their reading level. They can easily identify where to put it back giving more independence to my students.
There is one boy that has been asking why I do not have a basket for his level and now I do, he loves this! The puzzles are great for my emergent readers.
Again, your investment in my students education is greatly appreciated.”

English Language Learners Literacy
Funded Jan 1, 2016Thank you so much for funding my class project "English Language Learners Literacy."
By funding this project you have partnered with me to build a comprehensive library in which students of all levels can choose books and work on literacy skills.
I plan to utilize these leveled books and sight word puzzles during guided reading lessons. My students will learn skills to help them meet the common core standards. They will learn to read and build their confidence as readers. Beginners will be able to build sight words on their own.
I'm so excited to share the books with the children, I am bursting with joy. Thanks a million.”

Learning is Fun Title I
Funded May 6, 2014Thank you so much for the Samsung tablets. My students can't believe that someone would give them such a nice gift. Each morning before school my students ask, "Can I use the tablet?" When I give it to their eyes light up. They also ask for them during extended day and other times when we are able to use technology.
My students are using the resources to learn phonics sounds and letters. They are heaving stories read to them. They are practicing math skills, as well as learning new ones. Tomorrow, I plan to use it take take them on a virtual trip to Europe as we are exploring Europe in our studies.
Student learning is on the rise! One student that doesn't speak very much spoke to ask to use a tablet, which is great growth for her. Students can access apps and play games that are appropriate to their needs and skills. The students are interested and engaged. One app is showing a student how to pronounce letters and how their lips should be positioned. One student is learning how to draw cartoon characters. A child today wanted to learn how to make shadow puppets. So I looked today and there is an app to teach how to make shadow hand puppets that I have found for him. In addition being able to access a virtual tour as a class will be priceless. There are science and social studies apps too. My students can also use Raz- kids and other Internet based programs that the school has subscriptions for.
Your generosity to not only my students but to all the students and teachers in Brooklyn that you donated to is beyond overwhelming. My students and I greatly appreciate your donations and are enjoying learning with them immensely.”

Amazing and Exciting Journeys
Funded Jan 31, 2014Dear Helen and Clifford Chance,
Upon telling my students that we would be receiving an ipad for the classroom the excitement started immediately. They were eagerly waiting for its arrival. When the ipad came, which felt like forever to them their excitement bubbled over. They have asked âÂÂWhen can I use it?â as well as âÂÂWhat will we use it for?â They were also talking about their surprise that someone would give them such an item.
Daily my students enjoy the ipad. Right now for independent instruction I have me beginner ELL students learning phonics on apps as well as stories that are read aloud to them. I will be introducing Raz-kids to my classroom. It is web based reading program for all reading levels. The ipad works seamlessly for children with Raz-kids. For whole group instruction, I am able to show them bacteria and other organisms as part of our curriculum. This sparks their curiosity and brings the text to life. Also, we are reading a book that took place in 1948 Alaska. The ipad helps us journey into The Last Frontier.
Soon we will take off to China, actually our flight was delayed, I really hope we go soon! This project is boosting my teaching by bringing in new elements to my students that would otherwise not be available. Students learning is increasing because my beginners that are not on the level to read the same text can read similar text or do an activity to help them meet their needs and not be sitting idle.
We greatly appreciate and enjoy the ipad that you gave us. It will be used it daily to drive student success.”

Ms. Wishy
