The increased emphasis of hands-on STEM activities means that students are expected to be able to conduct lab experiments as a measurement of content mastery. Lab tables will expose students to actual scientific furniture and provide ample space for lab equipment and other supplies. Science lab tables will result in peer collaboration while students work on STEM projects. Currently, my classroom only has individual desks. Using desks to conduct lab experiments and do group work is difficult as desks do not align with each other and the rigid seating arrangement does not allow for true collaboration. The misalignment of desks is also a hazard as lab equipment and chemicals are not able to be used safely.
