As a librarian I currently serve diverse students in grades 9-12 from low income households. Over 90 percent of these students qualify for free and reduced lunch. A large percentage are foster youth and many are ESL learners. My students have many challenges in their home life and are striving to obtain an education. My goal is to get them interested in reading for pleasure and also as an healthy outlet. Reading in the library can reduce the stress they have from school and life's demands while enriching their minds.
