  • Jumbo Paint by Number Tiger

    Funded Apr 12, 2023

We are so thankful for your help in making our Jumbo Paint-by-Number Tiger possible. We needed a special type of paint to use that would withstand outdoor weather. Through DonorsChoose, we were able to purchase this paint using your kind donation. Our tiger is coming along nicely! The students have learned that it takes a steady hand to be able to paint within all the lines we have. They've enjoyed getting to be a part of a school-wide art piece that everyone can see. I am SO excited to reveal our completed tiger once we have put the finishing touches on him! Thanks again for all you do to make CES great!”

  • A Listening Station for Creative Imagination

    Funded Oct 19, 2021

We are so thankful for the listening center! As soon as my students saw it, they wanted to try it out! We were able to have music centers where students were in small groups getting to listen to Vivaldi's The Four Seasons "Autumn". Their faces lit up with excitement once they started hearing the music. Some students started dancing and moving their body to the music.

I absolutely love how easy this listening center is to use. I am able to use Bluetooth to send music from my phone to the listening center for students to listen to. I do not have to use CD's or the computer. I also do not have to be near it to stop and start the music. This makes it very customizable for each group and grade and saves time during class.

I can't wait to try out more genres of music for them to listen to. I was able to connect their listening with their feelings about the music by having them roll dice and answer questions about what they heard. Thanks again for this awesome gift!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

  • Comfy, Cozy Learning in Music

    Funded Sep 29, 2021

My students are so grateful for the music rug you have given us! They wanted to sit on the rug right away! They are very eager to sit and play instruments on the rug. We have also used the rug to identify music notes like quarter notes, eighth notes, and half notes. They have also found the quarter rest that they learned previously.

Today, we had partners challenging each other to play certain rhythms on different instruments. We used the rug as part of our instrument center. It worked out great!

Thanks again for your kind donation and all you do for the students at Charleston schools! We appreciate you!”

  • Flowers and Masterpieces-The Creative Mind

    Funded Nov 3, 2021

We love our new materials for the Gifted and Talented classroom! The students started working right away on their "Thank You" cards to honor you. We are using our smocks to keep their clothes clean. They loved them so much that they wanted to keep them on!

We are using the glue guns to finish our project using milk cartons. The milk cartons will be glued together to make a large canvas. Once the canvas is finished, we plan on painting a tiger on it for our outdoor classroom.

Some of them have not used watercolor paints before, so this is their first time getting to experience a new way to paint. They noticed how the colors were mixing and had to determine what to do to keep them from mixing. Thank you for giving them this new experience! We are so thankful for you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

A warm, inviting classroom needs a rug that's functional and educational. My students would love to use this music rug as a place to sit and a place to learn more about music. The big music staff on the rug can help me teach important concepts when learning to play instruments like the glockenspiel. The pictures of instruments on the rug make learning fun for my music students and help them remember what they've learned. Instead of taking class time away by pulling up pictures on the projector screen, I can point to the rug quickly and easily when teaching. I know, as a music teacher, it can be difficult for students to learn the names of the notes on the staff and recall them again later. This rug gives them a visual reminder every time they come to music class. Thank you for helping them learn!
