  • A Clear CriCut Music Room

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity. I have had this Cricut for the last couple of months and my classroom has had such a makeover! The Cricut has cut things for our door, bulletin board, and manipulatives. The biggest impact this Cricut has had in my classroom has been labeling classroom instruments. The labels have been added to many different instruments for different reasons. I have labeled pianos for our kindergarteners and first grade to help to identify the beginning parts of learning how to play the piano. It has helped create chord labels for ukulele and guitar. The ideas of what to create using a Cricut have just started and I am so excited to continue! Thank you so much for your ongoing generosity.”

  • Uke can do it!!

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

I can't tell you how excited I am to have my students back in the building so they are able to FINALLY try out our new ukuleles! Some of my students have had the same size ukulele for the last 6 years. When they finally come back into my classroom, I am so excited to see their faces light up when they see a new instrument they can try out and play. These ukuleles have been used during hybrid learning to help students hear my ukulele stronger with the USB hook up. NOW, that the students are able to use them, they will be able to record and even use our new ukulele with an amplifier for a performance. This was possible before but had issues with sound. Now, we are able to have the correct setup!”

  • Method Book Rockers!

    Funded Sep 17, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donation and your continued support in our classroom. Due to the last year with COVID-19, music class was not the same as it has been in the past. With the project, we were not able to use the method books as effectively as I had anticipated. Now that our school year is proceeding with caution, but back to normal, our young musicians will get back to ROCKING! These books are going to provide students with a method book for instruments such as piano, drums, guitar, and bass guitar. This year with safe social distancing, these books are going to help students to learn an instrument after a year without touching an instrument! Thank you for making this possible! We are very lucky to have you in our lives!”

  • Stand With Us!

    Funded May 5, 2020

This project, after over a year of being funded, is FINALLY getting used! This year, these stands are going to be helpful to help with COVID-19 safety procedures. Without these stands, to properly put the instruments away, they would be stored in cases and put back on racks. Instead, because of your generosity, instead of putting the instruments into cases, the instruments can be kept out on these stands and they can dry after they are sanitized. It prevents the case also having to be sanitized. I am so thrilled this project not just saved me.

    Musically yours,”

  • A Whole New World of Music

    Funded May 29, 2020

This project funded new lesson books for my students to use. Since school has not been the same as it was, these method books have not gotten the love they have deserved! For now, we have been using them in a class setting and the students are loving the new music and repertoire! It has helped during distance learning cause some students even have copies of these books already at their house!

Now that school is back in the building, multiple copies of these books are going to help with social distancing more than I have could imagine. When I created this project, I had thought this would be best for distance learning, but now back in the building, it has been even better for social distancing!”

  • Furniture, Supplies & More Oh My!

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

At the start of the school year, because of this Donors Choose project being funded, I felt like I had won the lottery! My colleagues would see me getting a new package each day and asked what was I receiving. This project had such an array of materials that already made my life easier. I was able to organize my classroom more and give some of my other materials to other teachers who were in need. I was able to condense piles of "stuff" and give them proper homes and a true place to live in the music room. I was able to label binders with our school logo and make a basic binder look professional. Books are now able to be proudly displayed around multiple places in my classroom with the bookshelves we received. I even told other music teachers about our new classroom management doorbell and can't wait to teach my student teacher about the creative ways to reach our students. All of these materials in this project have varied as they are, are going to benefit my students with great impact. I am very thankful for your generosity, and I thank you every day.

    Musically yours,”

  • Aux You Glad You Helped Us!

    Funded Jun 3, 2021

My students love and cherish our piano lab. When they walk into our music room for the first time when they are kindergartners, their jaws DROP when they see our pianos. Each year, I get prouder of how well my students take care of our lab and each student plays a part. You can see students pushing in benches, turning off peers' pianos that were forgotten, and even hanging up headphones that fell. Even with this pride and love for our lab, after years of use, little fingers exploring, and multiple students each day, little things start to break. With the completion of this project, it's a fresh start all over again. These keyboards have a new sound and new life. The struggle of dying cords is for the next generation of students. I am so excited to start the year with the piano lab having some new life. As always, these projects would not be possible without you.

    Musically yours,”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nugent

  • Keys to Keep Music Alive

    Funded Jun 3, 2020

When you give a student an instrument in the middle of a pandemic you can only imagine the emotional rollercoaster that you feel during the delivery. The students and parents could not believe they were given this opportunity. My heart melted with every student and every student was as gracious as the previous. Throughout the summer and into the new year, I kept receiving videos from my students of them playing, learning, and exploring the piano and falling in love with music. The students started taking pride in their instruments. This was all because of your wonderful gift. Thank you!”

  • Strumming Stars

    Funded Feb 3, 2020

Thank you so much for your donation!! Guitars are such a huge part of our music curriculum and now with your help, students are able to share with only one person!! Before our guitar supply was limited and students had to share with up to four people at the same time. This started distractions, fights, and loss of engagement. This was not fair to come to music class and watch others play and instrument and you had to wait your turn. Now, every class I know every student is getting equal time playing every instrument! You were part of that! Thank you!”

  • Practice Makes Perfect!

    Funded Jan 23, 2020

Thank you so much for your support and your donations! Because of you, my musicians can continue to practice at home and continue to be music makers. The idea of purchasing a piano is a huge cost and can make the decision to learn an instrument a turn-off! However, when the idea of being able to borrow an instrument is available, this makes the decision to learn an instrument so much easier! These students are getting one on one group lesson in their daily education, however, the biggest part of learning an instrument is practicing! Being able to use these instruments is a huge advantage! You made that happen thank you!”

"Hello! My name is Rebecca and I am a music teacher in a South Philadelphia! I have been teaching at this school since October 2015. I teach in a kindergarten to 8th grade school with around 850 students; I see all of them. Since I am in a poverty stricken neighborhood, resources are very limited. Parts to my keyboard lab are breaking and the students are getting frustrated. Also, school supplies are paid for out of pocket. Since I am the music teacher, I am not included in the back to school lists. Being a young, new teacher, this is very challenging to support myself and my classroom. The reason I am asking for this is because my students deserve a classroom that right now I can not give them.
