  • Indoor Voices Amplified!

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

Having this Qball was just an idea on how to make the problem of asking the students to speak up less awkward for both the teacher and the student. It's very intimidating to speak in front of a class especially when you are still learning the common language. Qball has transformed my classroom in so many ways! Other teachers are coming to me to check out how effective it is and how they can integrate it into their classrooms. For the first time, I was able to hear some of my student's voices that I had never heard before! It truly is amazing how such a small item can have a huge impact on a classroom. The students love to catch the microphone and even do anything they can to not drop the ball! We are so thankful for the Qball!”

  • Spacing Out with FlipForms

    Funded Jan 26, 2023

These flip forms have elevated the look, community, and style of my classroom. Since their arrival, the students have enjoyed using them as new functional seating in the music classroom. My favorite part of having elevated risers during choir. The students are now standing in windows, spaced out, and in tiered levels. I can see all of the faces of the students and their voices are able to ring out! I am looking forward to concert season this year when we can use the full set of risers for a concert! This project was a huge wish for me to help make my class look and become more functional. I am so thankful for this project being funded.”

  • One Line, One (Muted) Sound

    Funded Aug 26, 2022

This project has finally started to be put to use during our class time and the change is huge. Our classes have started to create bands which makes the necessity of this project come alive. The electronic drumset and pad have created the ability to have more than one person play percussion. This has added even more layers to the sound. It also has served the purpose this project was intended for. These electronic instruments are giving every student an instrument in their hand. Where traditionally there is only one person playing, now all students are interacting. Additionally, the mutes are now also being used by our band director to muffle the sound of the drummers during private lessons. Although these sound like small things, these are actually big wins in our classroom! This is all thanks to your help! Thank you!”

  • Guitars for Everyone!

    Funded Feb 18, 2022

Your donation was able to complete half of a set of our classroom guitars. Now, every student, up to our largest classroom size, will have a partner to share with. This is a huge impact in a classroom, because before there were groups of three or four sharing one guitar. We are so thankful to have your donations because we have been able to grow as guitar players more quickly at the start of this year compared to other years. As the teacher, I do not have to share with a student while I try and teach the lesson. We are so thankful that you chose us in your donation!”

  • Lefties Unite!! Left-Handed Guitars for a Music Classroom!

    Funded Mar 2, 2022

These instruments have affected our students in such a positive way. When I started guitar this year, I was able to offer this instrument as an accommodation. These students were so surprised that there was an option for them and that they were thought about. They only needed a little instruction about the switch. When asked about how they felt about having their own left-handed guitar, they thought it was so much easier for them. When I first created this project, I was not so sure about how the students would react toward it, however, working with them with the new instruments, was so worth it.”

  • New Year, New Headphones

    Funded Dec 30, 2021

If you could hear the screams when I told the students we had new headphones, you would have thought I was giving them each a present! It was at that moment that I knew the old headphones were causing more stress than I had originally thought. The students were so excited to have the microphone capabilities and wait patiently until I turn theirs on to answer questions. Their faces actually light up when they hear their peer's voice through the headsets! I was able to pass on the good fortune by offering the old headphones that still worked to another teacher who desperately needed them. This would not be possible without you! Thank you and know every day there is a student who is silently thanking you knowing they don't have to worry about their headphones anymore in music class!

    Musically yours,”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nugent

"Hello! My name is Rebecca and I am a music teacher in a South Philadelphia! I have been teaching at this school since October 2015. I teach in a kindergarten to 8th grade school with around 850 students; I see all of them. Since I am in a poverty stricken neighborhood, resources are very limited. Parts to my keyboard lab are breaking and the students are getting frustrated. Also, school supplies are paid for out of pocket. Since I am the music teacher, I am not included in the back to school lists. Being a young, new teacher, this is very challenging to support myself and my classroom. The reason I am asking for this is because my students deserve a classroom that right now I can not give them.
