When you enter my classroom you see excitement and joy on the faces of my diverse little learners. This is their first experience in school and they learn, grow, and change so much over the course of the year. Most of my students are English Language Learners. The majority of my students reside either at the Mission or the Migrant Farm Workers Camp. Many have been traumatized by events in their home lives and school is their safe place. I try to make my room colorful, yet warm and welcoming so that my students will enjoy being in their classroom. This age group needs so many manipulatives and hands on learning experiences. This helps to create some really meaningful learning experiences that will benefit them greatly.
