Funded Nov 7, 2024Thank you so much for your generous support! Your contribution has made a tangible difference in our classroom, and I'm excited to share how we've been putting the materials to use.
Recently, my students engaged in a hands-on lab exploring the carbon cycle, and your donated pipe cleaners and beads played a central role. These materials were used to model the movement of carbon through various reservoirs, such as the atmosphere, biosphere, and geosphere. By constructing their own visual representations, students were able to grasp complex processes like photosynthesis, respiration, and fossil fuel combustion in a way that felt interactive and engaging. One student even commented, "It's like we're building a friendship bracelet to tell the carbon story !"
The lab sparked lively discussions as students realized how human activities impact the carbon cycle. They reflected on ways to reduce their carbon footprint and brainstormed community-based solutions, such as planting more trees and advocating for renewable energy.
We're now building on this experience by analyzing real-world data on carbon emissions. Students will develop action plans to present to their peers and families, fostering environmental awareness and advocacy. These projects wouldn't be possible without your support.
Thank you again for being an essential part of our journey in learning and discovery!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Z
