I am a middle school math resource specialist. Every student at my school receives free lunch. Many of my students are English Language Learners and have learning disabilities. I am working not only to catch them up to grade level in math, but also to expand their horizons. I believe that my students deserve the same educational opportunities as students in higher-income neighborhoods. To get them there, we have to work harder to make up for their gaps. But they also need to see that the world is bigger than their neighborhood, and that's where you come in!
