Books That Will Take Us Places!
Funded May 25, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students were so excited to open the boxes and discover these beautiful books. This year the sets of books will be used during our literacy block with my readers who are reading above grade level. We are going to use a book club format to dive into the adventures and discover new characters and places. Students will also make connections to other stories that they've read in the past. They will also use their knowledge from our story telling unit of inquiry to find the different lessons that the characters learn throughout the books.
Thank you again for supporting my classroom this year and for years to come!”

Breaking News: We Need iPads #2
Funded Mar 5, 2018Thank you again for your generous donation! My students cannot get enough of the iPads. This touch screen technology has helped many of my students in different ways. They have discovered new literacy applications that have made them enthusiastic about non-fiction text. The iPads have also challenged some of my students who are so used to using the Chrome Books that we have in our classroom. Luckily I have several "experts" that are more than willing to walk them through the steps to login and get to different apps.
After taking a reading assessment for the first time on the iPads, most of my students were able to improve their scores. They are so eager to use them and have shown so much appreciation for this incredible gift. Thank you again for your generosity! My students now and for years to come thank you as well!”

Funded Feb 24, 2018Thank you so much for making a huge impact in the lives of my students. Having the latest technology has helped some of my students improve their reading scores. Several of my students have said that the touch screen on the iPads are much easier for them to use. Other students like how they can use different reading and math apps that we haven't used before. They also like the typing feature on the iPads.
My students love the new headphones! The perfect fit allows them to hear things without the rest of the class being affected.
My students and I appreciate your generosity more than you'll ever know. I hope the pictures show the joy in my students' faces!”

Funded Aug 23, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. The stools have completely changed my classroom. Having eight stools allows everyone to have a turn sitting on them throughout the day. Students who have difficulty getting their work done on time are now able to concentrate and move at the same time.
When I opened the boxes in front of the my students, their eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning. They couldn't wait to try them out. Luckily they were able to use them right away because they were so easy to put together. I have had several teachers in my room for meetings this year. They keep asking me how the students are doing with the stools and if they mess around. I tell them that they have changed the way some of my kids are able to focus. Now those teachers are looking into getting some for their classrooms.
The students in my classroom and I can't thank you enough for your generosity! I hope the photos give you a small glimpse into the impact that you've made. Thank you again!”

Help Us Stay Charged - Chromebook Cart
Funded May 25, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for funding our Chromebook cart! This cart has made the organization of our technology so much easier. Now all of the computers are fully charged and ready for all of the students to use every day. It has been a great way to teach responsibility and appreciation for our tools and resources. Every couple of weeks my students change classroom jobs. They all want to be the technology specialist so they can be in charge of making sure the Chromebooks are plugged in and ready to go. They have even suggested a different way to organize the cords so that each Chromebook and cord has its own number. Three of my students are planning on giving up their recess time to take on the project of assigning numbers.
Once again, thank you for providing a resource for my classroom. It has made a world of difference in our lives!”

Funded Mar 12, 2016Thank you so much for your very generous donation to our classroom project. According to my students, they are so thankful for the new Chrome Books because now they don't have to wait very long when they need a computer to quiz on a book. They also are glad that they can work with a partner to do their research instead of in a group of 3 or more. The Chrome Books are a lot faster than our other computers so when they need to do a search they can get information right away.
Your generosity has impacted my students tremendously! Thank you again for thinking of my students.”

Funded Dec 10, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donation. It is so amazing to have so many people care about the success of my students and their ability to be 21st century learners.
The two Chromebooks have made such an impact in our classroom. My students are able to work in smaller groups to research their units of inquiry. They are also able to get on the computers quickly to take quizzes on their books. They love listening to books and watching videos on the computers. During math they are able to use different websites to practice their math skills.
My students love the bigger screen and the different design of these Chromebooks. When I ask them to get a computer, they always want to use one of the new ones. During Daily 5, I have a few students who want to listen to reading first because they want to use our new technology.
Thank you once again for your kindness. I wish you could see the looks on my students faces when they discover something new while they are doing research on the new Chromebooks.”

Time for Kids
Funded Sep 30, 2015Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom! Time for Kids has been a valuable resource for my students. They are using it to expand their knowledge about current events. We are also using them to locate non-fiction features that help us understand the text better. All of my students are using different thinking strategies while they read the different articles. Asking questions that go beyond the text has helped them inquire about different topics that the articles cover. Since the articles are written with 2nd graders in mind, all of my students are able to access the information.
I love hearing them say, "I didn't know that ... happened." All of the other 2nd grade teachers appreciate having Time for Kids to use in their classrooms also. Thank you again!”

Funded Feb 26, 2015Thank you so much for donating to this project. My students couldn't believe they would have something so nice to put their books in. Now they have a place to store their independent reading books, reading folders, and reading response notebooks. They are able to organize the inside of their desks better since they have fewer materials in them. When I ask them to go and get their reading folder, they are able to get them quickly using less learning time for transitions.
The other primary teachers at my school are considering including these book bags on their supply lists at the beginning of the year so that their students can benefit from them. Thank you again for your kindness and generosity. I know these materials will benefit my students for years to come.”

Chrome Books For Curious Learners
Funded Dec 18, 2014Thank you so much for your amazing generosity! The looks on my students' faces when I opened the boxes was priceless. They couldn't wait to get their hands on this new technology.
Adding the Chrome Books and headphones has made an enormous impact on my students. They are now able to cooperate with each other, when doing research projects, in smaller groups. Before this project was funded, 4-5 students shared one computer to research different topics. Now they are able to be a lot more hands on and gain some experience while working with one or two other children.
During our literacy block I am able to include a technology center where my students can listen to books. I even have 2-3 extra Chrome Books for the rest of my students to be able to take reading quizzes.
Having more technology will have an impact on my current students and children for many years to come. Thank you again!!”

Ms. Weathers
