Thoughtful Toys for Special Learners!
Funded Nov 30, 2022These materials have been paramount to my students' learning and growth for the last few months. Upon receiving your generous donations, I shared them with my students who have been playing with them on a daily basis. Toddlers have a limited attention span that develops over time. As a special educator it's important that I present toys and activities for my students that pique their interest and curiosity, as well as challenge their thinking and strengthen developmental skills. I am so so thankful because these materials have done just that.”

Funded Feb 2, 2022The Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) organization is a wonderful website for educators from all backgrounds and academia. It has been an especially valuable resource for me as an early childhood special education teacher. Thank you for this gift as I continue to use the TPT gift card to download, print, and prepare visual and tactile resources for my students. I have used resources to develop vocabulary and language development in my English-language learners and students with special needs. These resources have been individualized to cater to specific goals of my students. I have been so thankful to see how these visuals, such as picture schedules and matching activities, have benefited my students confidence, independence, hand-eye coordination, language development, and more. Thanks again!”

Funded Nov 15, 2021My class uses the resources you have funded on this project day in and day out. They are three and four years old and some of them have special needs. At their varying stages of development, my students all benefit from exposure to different kinds of materials. They have been able to explore new experiences through the arts. They have specifically gravitated to the paints and collage materials which allows them to create freely. They also have loved the microscope, letter keys and locks, and letter water toys. They are gaining so much through play with these new learning materials. Thank you!! We are so grateful!”

Funded Dec 25, 2019Thank you for your generous donation and support in nourishing the academic development of my students. My students were thrilled to see the Amazon Fire tablets at school. The families that attend my school come from low-income households. The majority of my students have not had prior access to technology for educational learning outside of school. Seeing the tablets gave them so much joy! They have used them for additional learning opportunities for subjects like reading and math. My students love playing reading and math games on the tablets. I love them because my students don't realize they are learning and "working" since they are having so much fun! Thank you for these tablets as they will be used again and again.”

Funded Aug 19, 2020This school year started off like no other. There was a major teacher shortage in New York City. I held onto the materials from this project at the beginning of the school year since I had more students than expected as a remote classroom teacher, including multiple classes and grades. It has been a long journey but I am now with one second grade class who have received their materials with open arms. My students are using their headphones during class instruction on Google Meets and while they complete assignments independently. Most of my students live in small apartments with siblings who are also learning from home. It can become quite noisy and hard for them to concentrate. They can now listen to educational videos and engage more effectively in discussion using their headphones. They are also using the organizational folders to keep their notebooks and pencils easily accessible for every class. I am so thankful as these materials will continue to be very helpful throughout the duration of remote learning and even when we return to the school building.”

Let’s Bag It! Book Baggies for a Home-School Connection
Funded Oct 5, 2019My students use their cloth book baggies gifted to us on a daily basis to haul sets of books on their reading level from school to their homes and back to school again. They treat their baggies as prized possessions, like mini suit cases with hidden treasures. They work tirelessly to decode unknown words in their books and find endless joy in reading independently and to their parents and siblings at home. Thank you for giving my students additional tools for becoming successful and inspired readers.”

This Is Us! Books Tailored to You and I
Funded Aug 23, 2019Many of my students don't have access to books outside of school. I believe it it my job and privilege to build a love for literature in my students, especially at their early age. Doing this means supporting their reading development as well as exposing them to a variety of texts that reflect meaningful concepts and promote learning of new skills. In my classroom, like most public school classrooms, we have a pretty tight schedule. The children hear books read out loud everyday during breakfast, our literacy block and also have time for independent reading to practice skills they have learned. They are loving hearing and reading the new stories, especially those with characters that are Latino! Thanks you for a beautiful collection of books!”

Second Grade Super Stars!
Funded Jul 6, 2019My students have been in school for about a month now, which means a month worth of getting to know each other and diving into the second grade curriculum. I am so grateful for our classroom donations! We've been using the markers, paper cutter, and laminator to create products for the student to use on a daily basis to facilitate learning of new skills. Our anchor charts and are brighter, more engaging, durable and student-friendly. Our electric sharpener gets used every single day and is a huge life saver! These things make a difference in building a thriving routine and school year!”

Funded Mar 19, 2019You have generously given my students the priceless gift of organization. Your donation of seat sacks transformed our daily routines in the classroom. I was able to designate specific materials that needed to be housed inside of each student's desk and in their seat sacks. This helped them tremendously, as you can imagine to clear their work space of clutter. My students were able to find their notebooks, folders, workbooks, pencils, and more with much needed ease and begin working swiftly. The sand timers have been such a useful tool during center time and choice activities. Thank you for helping our classroom grow!”

Calm, Focuses & Productive- All in the Seating
Funded Mar 19, 2019My students were at awe when they walked into their classroom one Monday morning to find a selection of new seating options. "Wow," they raved as they spinned and waddled back and forth in their new stools and latex back in comfy colorful chairs.
The students take turns using the new seating during group instruction and in the classroom library. It has helped them to focus during lessons while providing them with just the right amount of movement needed. The students often ask if they can continue using a stool from the meeting area to their own desk to help them work independently.
Thank you for giving my first-graders an opportunity to maximize their learning and reach their potential.”
