Thank you for making our students' day a little warmer. Thanks to your contribution we distributed 20 winter kits to students and some families. As you can see in the pictures they were so grateful. The kits came with gloves, hand warmers, hats and other much needed items for cold days in New York City. We thank you once again for supporting our school. Your donation was matched thanks to our partners at NBC4/Telemundo 47. Once again we proved how our community can come together to support one another.”

Yay! Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Thanks to your donation we have a one-year subscription to these kids' magazines. I am able to assign it for homework or as an instructional small group. We love the fact that the content is relevant to our world today and spark conversations among the children or with their family members around this topic. The teachers guides have been helpful for me as well and I am able to align the stories to what we are also learning in other subject areas. They are truly awesome!”

Thank you for making it possible for us to have our own color printer in the classroom. It has made such an incredible difference in such a short time. I am able to print student work in color and they can see their work hung up on the bulletin boards. I am also able to print student learning activities for centers and daily instruction. This has been beneficial for all learners in the classroom, especially those that need extra supports such as color coding, or anchor charts. This has been made possible thanks to your donation and generosity.”

Thank you! Thank you! Thank You for the beautiful reading rug. Muchisimas gracias! The rug has made our classroom so cute! A place that's colorful and inviting for my students! The perfect place to nestle close together and tap out the words we're reading and spelling during our phonics isntruction. The perfect place for a socratic seminar- at grade level! It has made our classoom a home- comfortable, colorful and joyous. We are a dual-language classroom and what I love most is that the rug is in the language that represents us- who we are. So thank you once again for a rug that has given us the opportunity to feel like we are learning in a community, with our family. Children spend so many hours away from home and in the classroom. It is important to make them feel at home outside of their home by donating this rug to our classroom you have help add to that touch of warmth.”

Thank you so much for helping us purchase much needed items for our family laundry room. This space helps families within our school community come and wash clothes. Although this may seem like "just a laundry room" it makes a huge difference for these families. Families joyfully come and wash clothes and know that their school community supports them and cares for them. Due to their current living situations and finances, being able to do laundry at school helps them tremendously. Families have shared how much of a blessing it is to their family. This is thanks to you and the power of community.”

Our City has welcome thousands of assylum-seeking families. It is important that our students are exposed to literature that shares their narrative and for the rest of the students to learn more through these stories and be able to sympathize with their peers. The books were carefully hand-picked to showcase a variety of immigrant experiences and narratives. I hope that the students treasure these stories and identify with the characters. Being an immigrant kid myself, I know how special seeing this stories in my classroom would have been.”

Diversity in the classroom is important because representation matters. This means also that the tools and items of the classroom represent a diverse group of people and experiences. The items selected in this project were carefully chosen to give students the ability to express themselves using various color paper and art tools that showcase the beautiful shades of melatonin. Art is a popular center in my classroom. I try to incorporate art in the various subjects. Thanks to your support it is now fully stocked.”
At the end of the day while students are packing up and getting ready to go home, we have a time for snack and socializing. Some student bring snacks from home but many do not. Thanks to your support I was able to get snacks for the class and make sure that all students that do not have a snack do not feel left out but can also enjoy a sweet or savory snack at the end of the day. During this time students are able to talk with their friends or listen to our class read aloud while enjoying a quick snack.”
Thank you for purchasing writing tools for our writing center. Our writing center is now fully stocked and equipped with highlighters, pencils, pens and paper. Writers look forward to creative writing time. During reading time, students are also utilizing highlighters to underline key information. Pencils are always much needed in the classroom as students are constantly writing their thoughts and answers to questions, These items are used daily and run out quickly but thanks to your support we have one less thing to worry about.”
The look on my student's faces was truly priceless when they were given a brand new backpack. Thank you so much for making this possible! Many of the kids that received a brand new backpack with school supplies, are newly arrived to the country. They left their home with just the items on them. They were so joyous to receive the items because they literally have nothing to call their own. Thank you so much for meeting this need and making it possible to provide a backpack for the new school year and school supplies.”
