Thank you for keeping William and Alan well fed and healthy. As you can see from the photos, they are beloved by the students. I have been amazed by how much the guinea pigs contribute to our classroom. They often entertain us with little squeaks and funny actions. Also, many students find them to be a comfort. In fact, the school counselors have borrowed them a few times to help a student who is grieving or distressed. As long as I am in the classroom, I will have these little furballs around.”

Many in our community work multiple jobs to support their families. Most students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Despite these challenges, our students continue to persevere.
I have the privilege of teaching English Language Learners. Students come from 13 countries and speak 2-3 languages each! They translate for their parents when buying groceries, calling a doctor, or speaking to school staff. This responsibility has created a group of mature and empathetic kids.
Although my students are very bright and able to speak English, they struggle with reading and writing. Increasing their literacy is the focus of every class lesson and activity. I believe that students thrive when they feel loved and secure in our schools and classrooms. We choose reading materials, podcasts, and short films that lend themselves to discussions topics including our emotional well-being, social skills, and acts of kindness.
