iPads for Writing and Literacy
Funded Oct 13, 2015I don't have the words to describe to you the tremendous impact the iPads have had in our classroom. Today, technology is such an integral part of the way our students learn and access to that technology is critical for their academic success. Thanks to your generous donations we have been able to utilize these amazing tools in our everyday learning. Despite some minor hiccups with wifi connectivity, the students have been able to use these devices to practice reading skills online through school approved programs such as iReady and Waggle. They have also been able to access Quizlet to build their vocabulary and Kahoot for a little competitive learning. The possibilities and uses are truly endless. Once again, I thank you for contributing to the enrichment and education of these wonderful children.”

Technology Time!
Funded Sep 30, 2015There are not enough words to express how truly grateful I am for your contributions to such an important project. I cannot describe to you how excited the students were to receive the boxes that contained the Chromebooks and what a difference those Chromebooks have made in our classroom. In a world were the use of technology is becoming increasingly more important, it is essential that our students have access to technology on a daily basis.
Using these three new Chromebooks, the students have been able to research topics related to books we have been reading in class, log on to Quizlet to practice their vocabulary words, and use various educational programs to enhance their learning. They have been able to use iReady which is a program designed to help students with improve their reading skills through remedial practice and engaging lessons, along with Waggle, a program geared at providing students practice with Reading skills in the state tested format. These online programs spice up the traditional pencil and paper leading the students to be increasingly more enthusiastic about learning.
Not only has the addition of these Chromebooks to the classroom helped them by allowing them to practice their reading skills on essential education programs, but it has also helped to teach them responsibility. Each week one child is responsible for the charging, setup, and care of these Chromebooks. It's exciting to see how they anxiously await their turn to be the Technology Master of the class. I cannot thank you enough for your generous support of these amazing children. You have truly made a huge difference in their educational experience.”

Card Stock For Word Sorts!
Funded Mar 15, 2013There are not enough words to describe how thankful I am for your donation to my classroom. The availability of these resources, as simple as they may seem, allowed my students to create valuable word sorts to help them learn and develop a deeper understanding. My ESOL students have moved up several spelling stages all because of the materials you supported us with. Now that the school year is over, I look forward to using the card stock to create and prepare additional resources for my students for next year!”

Books That Teach!
Funded Mar 15, 2013I could hardly get the books out of the boxes when they arrived before my students were off and eagerly flipping through all of the pages. It has been such an amazing experience watching my students read each book and share with each other the new words that they have learned. The students seem to love that most of the books contain rhyming and colorful illustrations. Although we have not had the books for long, I can already see a dramatic increase in their vocabulary scores. There are not enough words to truly be able to thank you for your donation and the tremendous impact it has made on my students!”

Make Learning Visible With Epson!
Funded Jan 12, 2013Imagine being in a classroom where students conduct their own learning and work together to learn from their mistakes. Research tells us that if students are able to teach each other, they will walk away with a better understanding of what they have learned. Thanks to your amazing donation to our classroom, my students have been able to use the new document camera to do just that. Everyday the students eagerly volunteer to bring up their paper and share their responses and thoughts with the class. This in turn sparks a wonderful discussion in which students are able to dialogue about important educational topics. It doesn't matter how much I write, there are not enough words to explain the significant impact that this technology has made on the education of my students. Thank you for giving my students the opporunity to have this camera and to learn from each other.”

Funded Dec 18, 2012There are not enough words to express how grateful I am for your donation to my students. I know that it is difficult to see in the photographs as I am not allowed to publish photographs of personal information pertaining to the students. I work in a school where it is very difficult to communicate with parents because of complicated work schedules and disconnected phone numbers. With these folders I have been able to create Emergency Contact Folders in which I keep all of the important contact information for each student as well as Parent Communication Folders that are sent home weekly. This helps parents keep track of their child's progress in school and it also helps the children see how they are improving or what skills they need to work on. It has made a huge difference in student performance because now they know their parents will see their scores and they try even harder to get good grades. Thank you again for choosing to help my 5th graders.”

Funded Dec 29, 2012You don't have to do research to know that boys and girls have different interests and learn differently from each other. Before receiving this grant, I struggled with finding something that would interest my boys and encourage them to read. I found that the majority of my classroom library was comprised of books that contained stories about princesses and prince charming. These new books are full of bugs, sharks, guts, and gory elements that attract the boys. They are constantly using any free time they have to select one of these new books and explore them. I am excited each day to see what new and exciting facts the boys will share with me. Seeing that the boys are finally reading, brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for donating to my students.”

Information On Display
Funded Jan 18, 2013I can not thank you enough for your generous donation to my 5th grade classroom. The display bookshelves have made a wonderful addition to the classroom. The students are able to put the books they recommend to the class on the bookshelves and I am able to display books that go along with whatever topic we are discussing or currently reading about. We recently read a story by the author Jane Yolen and I was able to display other books, such as Encounter, by the same author so that my students might be exposed to other literature from a familiar author. We also use the magnetic display shelves to hold the books that I am currently reading to the class. Seeing it on the board, my students never forget to remind me to read to them! Thank you again for your donation and support of my students.”

Guided Reading Table
Funded Aug 8, 2012I can not explain to you how wonderful it is to finally have the Kidney Table in the classroom. Due to complications, it took months for the table to arrive and both my students and I had to wait patiently. Their eager faces as it arrived said it all. The table has made a significant positive impact in the classroom. We use it every day during small group time. Instead of trying to squeeze uncomfortably around a trapezoid table, I can now sit with eight or nine students easily and comfortably to provide them with valuable small group lessons on their target skills. The students love the table so much that they even take turns sitting at it when I am teaching to the whole class. Thank you again for your amazing donation to my students.”

Cinderella Around the Word: A Cultural Unit Study
Funded Aug 7, 2012When I sat down to write this thank you letter, I couldn't come up with the right words to be able to thank you enough for donating these wonderful Cinderella books to my 5th grade students. The students have enjoyed reading the books and comparing the different versions from all around the world. They worked cooperatively in groups and smiled as they discovered humorous versions of Cinderella or read about traditions from other countries. These books sparked their interest and led them to further research and they have even been inspired to write their own versions of Cinderella based on their research and personal experiences. Thank you for making this project so memorable for my students and enhancing their education.”
