Real-Time Annotation
Funded Feb 5, 2016First and foremost, thank you for your generous contribution towards our class project Real-Time Annotation. The use of technology is changing how students engage with the curriculum; thus this is a transformative and exciting time to be an educator. It is important to incorporate new tools which increase efficiency; this device allows me to transition with ease thus enhancing the flow of each lesson.
The addition of a document camera into our classroom has allowed me to model various writing techniques to support the writing process, and an opportunity for students to showcase their work. In the images attached you can see students are presenting their personal culture maps, an assignment where students analyze their own personal culture before we delve into investigating cultures around the world. The iPad document camera allows me to record student presentations to later assess and share student presentations.
The classroom culture is changing, and with these new more mobile tools the possibilities are endless.
On behalf of the faculty and students at Casa Grande High School, thank you for supporting our students, my vision for my curriculum and most important- our community.”

Sketchnoting at Casa Grande High School
Funded Dec 31, 2015First and foremost, thank you for your generous contribution towards our class project. As you can see in the photos, students are using the styli to make their thinking visible. Making thinking visible allows individuals and collectively as a class to think more critically by layering their understanding. It also allows other students to share their perspective and interpret similar or varying perspectives. Using the styli in various applications encourages students to embrace imperfection by accepting their artistic abilities, encouraging students to go back and revise when necessary, and thus learning to fail forward. The use of technology is changing how students engage with the content; this is a transformative time to be an educator.

Type not Tap
Funded Aug 23, 2015First and foremost, thank you for your generous contribution towards our class project Type not Tap. The keyboards are used daily and are particularly beneficial for special needs students with dexterity challenges. The use of technology is changing how students engage with the curriculum, thus this is a transformative and exciting time to be an educator.
Reflect upon your own experience as a junior in your United States history class; the teacher, the textbook, the rows... oh,the memories! Tomorrow, I will be greeted by 30 teenagers(who all probably took a selfie on the way to school) ecstatic to learn about the Great Depression(or so I hope) who will sit at tables, will take out their own individual iPad to analyze a primary document, post a comment on our class forum, and as a class analyze the document and student interpretations on the board through the projector and discuss. The classroom culture is changing, and with these new more mobile tools the possibilities are endless.
With the addition of the keyboards, the iPads move from being a device to a laptop. Students will be focusing this semester on researching social injustices within any country of their choice and ultimately presenting their findings through an engaging multi-media presentation. Students will also create a website, an online portfolio, where all their information will be collected and presented for the entire community to view.
On behalf of the faculty and students at Casa Grande High School, thank you for supporting our students, my vision for my curriculum and most important- our community.”

Wicked Problem Solvers
Funded Aug 22, 2015First and foremost, thank you for your generous contribution towards our class project Wicked Problem Solvers. The use of technology is changing how students engage with the curriculum; thus this is a transformative and exciting time to be an educator. The concept of the "20-Time Project" inspired me to change my curriculum this year and use the mobile computer stand and wireless mouse as tools to enhance presentations.
This spring I will be using the concepts in "20-Time Project" book as a model to transform a project I created last year where students study inspirational world leaders. Presentations will resemble Ted-Talks(thus is was essential to have a mobile mouse) and as outlined in the "20-Time Project" book conduct research and provide instruction which is student-centered. The 21st century model emphasizes opportunities for students to complete meaningful work by investigating and discovering answers to real-world problems. Contrary to the 20th century model, where the teacher gets an "intellectual" workout at the front of the room and students are "fed" the information by writing down notes. This will be a learning process for myself as much as it is for my students. Together we will test these concepts, building a collective understanding of the world around us through new and innovative methods.
On behalf of the faculty and students at Casa Grande High School, thank you for supporting our students, my vision for my curriculum and most important--- our community.”
