Help us Get a "Leg-O" in our STEM Lab
Funded Feb 8, 2023My students and I were over the moon when we received the news that our project had been fully funded. The Lego Robotics Station has made a significant impact on our STEM classroom, allowing our students to engage in hands-on, experiential learning experiences that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity. The station has become a hub of excitement and curiosity.
Since the Lego Robotics Station was integrated into our STEM Lab, our students have been eagerly exploring the fascinating world of robotics. They have been actively constructing and programming their robots, collaborating, participating in exciting challenges, and finding innovative solutions to real-world problems. Through this engaging and immersive experience, our students are developing essential skills such as logical reasoning, programming, and engineering concepts, all while having a great time.
The impact of your contribution goes far beyond the walls of our school. By investing in our students' education and providing them with the tools they need to thrive, you are helping to shape the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. The arrival of the Microbits has brought about a wave of excitement and enthusiasm among our students. These powerful educational tools have opened up a world of endless possibilities and have empowered our students to delve into the exciting realm of coding and computational thinking. The Microbits have proven to be an invaluable resource, enabling our students to acquire essential STEM skills while fostering creativity and problem-solving abilities.
With the Micro Bits in hand, our students have engaged in a variety of activities that have enriched their learning journey. I would like to highlight a few activities that have captivated their interest and inspired their curiosity:
Introduction to Coding: The Microbits have served as an excellent platform for introducing our students to coding in a tangible manner. They have gained hands-on experience in programming and have learned to create interactive projects using the Micro Bits
Creative Projects: The students have unleashed their creativity by designing innovative projects with the Micro Bits. They created and coded microbit animals, they created black boxes and even music. The microbits have definitely fostered a sense of innovation and critical thinking.
Collaborative Challenges: The Microbits have encouraged collaborative learning and teamwork. Students have worked together to solve coding challenges, exchanging ideas and supporting one another. The experience has not only enhanced their coding skills but also fostered strong bonds among their peers.
Your support has truly made a difference in the lives of our students. The Micro Bits have not only enhanced their technical proficiency but also nurtured their creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. By equipping them with these valuable tools, you have empowered them to embrace the future with confidence.

Funded Jul 14, 2022Thank you very much for your donation to help us purchase the robotic kits. My students in the robotics club are excited about being able to build a robot and have already begun to be curious about learning code to control them. I am so happy that they are currently planning to do more than their current abilities. It's the excitement for learning that has me most excited. My students have grown the club to include 2 more students and although they want to now teach the nearby middle school, we do not have the means to do so.”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 7 other donors.Coding Skills = Employability
Funded Oct 1, 2017Many of my students have smart phones and use technology for basic functions. Not nearly to their full capacity. With the robots my students have learned how to program the robots through simple web based coding applications. They have learned how to use their phones and tablets to control the robots but most importantly, they are learning coding skills.
What is exciting to my students about the robots is actually seeing how they can and have to control all aspects of the robots functioning. They are amazed that it is something they can do. They also appreciate that they can use the same coding skills to create artwork.
I have a student who excels at every task given to her as far as robotics. She is really excited and gives her all to every assignment. She is even considering computer science as a future career option.
