This is my 6th year teaching. I am requesting a new printer and ink cartridges to provide printed materials that my students can use to better understand the lesson content in all subject areas, a new keyboard to replace the one I have, and earphones to provide additional listening support to use with the district provided technology. I am also requesting an external hard drive, monitor cable, and power strips to enable me to efficiently support the technology we use in the classroom. I wanted the hard drive as a backup for saving resources when our internet access becomes intermittent and to have a backup source to save their projects. My students have been sharing outlets throughout the room to charge their Chromebooks, and I haven't been able to use my Promethean smartboard for the last 2 years because I didn't have proper cabling. To assist in fostering the academic achievement of my students in all content areas (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health), and in meeting the technological advancements that are essential to adequately learning in a post-pandemic environment, I need the requested supplies to meet their needs. I want to be able to properly provide for my students' technological needs so they can be able to bridge the gap caused from lack of traditional classroom learning, such as being able to pronounce what they hear during read alouds, and to enhance how they respond in class discourse (SL.4, L.4.4-6). When my students read using resources like MyOn on their Chromebooks, their love of reading and their vocabulary skills are enhanced to help them in writing, communication, and encourages their self-motivation to learn more! Please help me meet them where they are and bring them back up to where they belong academically.
