For this Holiday Season!
Funded Nov 29, 2022I am immensely grateful for getting this project funded. During the holidays, many of my students are homesick and getting a card, chocolate bar, or being part of a raffle can really change their mood. This year, with your donation, I was able to send a holiday card to all my students. Every year, when we come back from Christmas break, the students are thankful for getting their cards in the mail and some write little notes to thank me. I have you to thank for all this joy and happiness created among my students.
I was also able to play games and give candy to the first, second, and third winner of these games. The students are always more engaged when there's candy and having these during the holidays was extra special. In addition, I was able to create little mug gifts, with candy cane and chocolate bars and raffle them to each of my classes.
Slowly, with projects funded by Donors Choose, I have been able to add color to my classroom. Getting to create a welcoming and engaging environment has been a process in the past 4 years. With donations such as yours, we are able to provide our students with a more equipped and inviting classroom.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Talita

Funded Nov 21, 2022I am now able to provide games to my students and support them in building a stronger sense of community through fun activities. I have had students from different countries and cultures engage and laugh with each other because of these games. Jenga always gets a laugh and the students get competitive with each other. At times, it is challenging to get the students to talk in English with each other, but when they play I have heard, on many occasions, them speaking in English. Due to my classroom being so diverse, students might choose to hang out and sit next to other students they can communicate with. However, through play and laughter, they have been able to connect with each other, not only with peers who speak the same language.
We thank you very much for your support.”

Continued Search for Supplies
Funded Dec 19, 2021We are immensely grateful for all the support that we have received. My students continue to create and have fun while learning because of donations and support from you. This year, we have been able to highlight parts of speech while learning English with different songs. Students have further developed their English vocabulary by using magazines cut-outs to write short stories. They have been able to be more creative due to the tools we now have such as scissors, colored markers, glue, highlighters, colored papers, etc.
Recently, I have received refugees in my class and it's been wonderful to provide them with composition notebooks, pencils, and erasers. Although these are basic materials, at the end of the day, they are essential tools for a classroom.
Thank you so much for all you have done and continue to do for our community.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Talita

Funded Jun 29, 2021I am so grateful to be part of this community. Donors to this project have supported my students in more than one way. This year, we were able to do the "Where I am from poem", using colored papers and colored pencils. I have been able to keep all my supplies safe in the metal cabinet, funded by this project. It has been wonderful to offer the students some of the supplies they need in order to engage in the lesson. I appreciate all that you have done for us. My students and I are eternally grateful for all your support and generosity.”

Supplies to Promote Engagement
Funded Jun 2, 2021What a difference the supplies have made!
In my American Customs and Manners class, students worked on a debate- whether America is a melting pot or a salad bowl. They were able to use the colored pencils to do their visuals, one of the requirements of the assessment. It has been great to offer students the opportunity to cut, glue, color, and more.
For students learning English as a second language, it is imperative to be creative and let them use their background knowledge when learning. With the donations from this project, my students have been able to do a range of activities that we could not do before due to the lack of materials.
We are grateful for your support!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Talita
