  • Growing Readers One Book at a Time

    Funded Dec 30, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom library. This addition will help many students see themselves in the texts they read or learn empathy by reading about the experiences of someone else. Reading is an essential component to success and joy in learning and your contribution supports that endeavor tenfold. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sinagra

  • iPad Flexibility Creates Learning Opportunities

    Funded Dec 29, 2022

I am so incredibly grateful to the PS 139 community for funding this project! The generosity shown by families and neighbors truly shows a deep caring about our students. Our class iPad has been used to help our students navigate how to use technology in a way that is purposeful, academic and engaging. We have used our class iPad to research topics and dig deeper by finding information via different sources. We have also used our iPad to model how to create Canva presentations that help bring our writing to live in a more visual and interactive way. You have helped to purchase an iPad for our classroom, which will be used on a daily basis to support student learning and engagement!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sinagra

  • Teaching Geek ISO Quality Tech

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you for your generous and thoughtful donation. This resource not only continues to benefit so many learners, but most importantly, helped engage and teach so many learners throughout the pandemic.

Remote learning and an unpredictable in person learning schedule blend of the last two years made it difficult for students who were sick or home due to family members being ill to stay caught up and on pace with the learning in our classroom.

Thanks to your donation, I was able to create virtual videos teaching lessons that were missed, as well as provide live teaching via Zoom and use the pad to write, mark up, show mathematical equations, etc. to make the experience as close to real life classroom teaching as possible.

Your donation is still being used to create short teaching clips and videos for students to review at a later time TODAY.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sinagra

  • We Need Diverse Books

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you for your heartfelt and generous donation to our classroom library. It is not easy to find books that can act as windows and doors to so many students year after year. Your actions helped to change that for so many 4th graders.

Students have benefited socially from partner reading, book clubbing, book recommendations, and book critiques. All activities that encourage discussion and collaboration with literacy as the support. Students have also benefited because they have been able to read a wide array of texts that were focused on topics that were not always readily available in our school.

A couple of students have even gone on to create their own book wishlists which have helped them learn how to use the internet to research books about topics that you want to read more about.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sinagra

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose 20th Anniversary Fund and 2 other donors.
  • Apple Pencil for Our Class iPad!

    Funded Feb 12, 2023

Thank you so much for your support and generosity. We are so excited to explore how to incorporate our new technology into our classroom. We have a lot of exciting ideas for the spring and we know that having more flexible tools will open new doors for our learning and growing. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • Readers Grow Into Leaders

    Funded Aug 22, 2017

I am overwhelmed by not only your kindness, but also your commitment and dedication to our future leaders! Thanks to your generosity, my students will be better able to navigate high interest non-fiction texts through multiples lenses, developing new perspectives, and growing grander ideas. I can't wait for this year to start! Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

  • Help, Genie! We Need Our Very Own Magic Carpet!

    Funded Aug 25, 2014

I am so grateful for the support that I have received from the Gates Foundation, as well as a parent from my school. I wanted to donate to my project in order to ensure that my students have their meeting area carpet by the first day of school! This carpet is a very important piece of the puzzle that is our learning environment! Because students will have a comfortable meeting area, it will allow them to focus their attention on their work, rather than outside forces that may be getting in their way. So, so, so excited for school to begin! Thank you!”

  • Google Chromebooks for Brooklyn's Finest Kids

    Funded Aug 18, 2014

Your generosity is overwhelming and your commitment to your roots is inspiring. I am so excited to be able to share these ChromeBooks with my students this year and for many years to come. For many of my students, they only know of technology as a means of checking social media or playing games. With your donation, I will be able to teach them that the Internet can serve as a limitless portal to gather, enhance, and support their knowledge and growth. Your support means the world to us!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sinagra
