As an itinerant teacher, I unfortunately cannot carry around an entire library in my backpack... or can I?! With this iPad Air I will be able to travel to my students all across the Bronx and bring the world's library to their fingertips. They will be able to access thousands upon thousands of books through the New York Public Library's website and other online libraries. Instead of only being able to offer my students what resources will fit in my carrying bag, I will be able to offer them the world. With this technology my student's will be able to practice 21st century research skills. We will be able to use the iPad and internet access to conduct projects that will enhance their understanding of how to conduct research, what constitutes reliable information, and how to know what they can trust when reading on the internet. Finally, the endless applications available on the iPad will provide educational opportunities for even my youngest students as they play interactive games that will enhance their literacy without them even realizing it!
