Sprucing Up Our Library
Funded Dec 27, 2022My classes and I are so grateful for our materials!
I work with K-2 students in my classroom/library. We needed an area where we can enjoy some books, as well as extra space to store book bins. Also, because we have no tables, the clipboards come in handy for projects and writing activities.
When our materials came in, the students were so excited. They now have choices in where they sit and what to use for writing.
The space is a more welcoming and we are so appreciative.
I am hoping to inspire the children to create wonderful things, as well as become lifelong readers, thanks to your generosity.”

Funded Nov 21, 2019I cannot express the gratitude my students and I have for the book cases we received. My school is located in 2 buildings and our 2nd building does not have an actual library. I, as the library teacher was given a classroom, but all of our books for the new (lower school building) were housed in crates. This posed a danger to the students, who are in pre-K - 2nd grade. Although I was able to have students browse through and check out books, they had to be put in bins, on the tables for their safety.
Now, students can browse through both bins and the new shelves, with no danger. They are so excited that I am teaching them how to search for find books on the shelves, like the 'big kids'.
Our next steps is to expand the back of the room, with possibly a few more shelves and some more comfortable, flexible seating for the students to really gain a library feel.”

Differentiating Math for My Diverse Learners
Funded Jun 12, 2014My students were so excited to hear that they were going to be engaged in "just right" math games. The resources provided differentiated games and a space for students to keep their games in their own bins. They really liked the idea of going to get their game bins, independently, and start playing; rather than waiting for materials to be distributed each day. They especially liked the wipe and dry pockets and markers, as the need for constant copying and filing paper was diminished and they can focus on just playing the games. They keep track of the games they play, and their progress with their partners. I have observed the students increase their math skills, as well as learn to work collaboratively. They have learned how to take care of their materials and take pride in knowing that the games will change as their needs change.
I have been able to assess the students, and use the materials to hone in on what skills they need to work on. As they master skills, I can easily change/add games to their bins to work on new skills. With the students learning how to play games more proficiently, I have more time to work with small groups to further differentiate my instruction. My goal is to make Math Game Time a routine during Math Workshop in order to meet my kids where they're at; helping them reach standards without frustrating those who struggle or boring those who need more of a challenge.
I am so grateful for these resources as they have made math easier for me to manage, with all the different levels in my class. Making math fun has also encouraged those students who were fearful of math.
Thank you again for making this project a success!”
