  • Flexible Seating for Fourth Graders

    Funded Jan 26, 2024

Thank you so much helping me add four more wobble seats to my classroom. In addition to being highly coveted seating options, they have been incredibly helpful during assessments. My wiggly fourth graders are able to focus because the seats allow them to move in an unrestricted way. I truly appreciate that you chose to donate to this project because having flexible seating options was a goal of mine this year. Every child has different needs, and having different types of seating in the classroom allows me to better tailor my teaching to those needs. Thank you again!”

  • Brilliant Biographies!

    Funded May 10, 2023

Thank you so much for choosing to donate to this project. You have helped me bring some incredible books into the classroom that are high-interest and feature incredible Americans that children should know about. Later this year, my students will be conducting a Biography Book Report, and I am excited that they will have so many people that they can choose from because of your help. Some students tend to shy away from nonfiction books because they don't find them stimulating or fun, but I have found that the "Who Was/ Who Is" series really captures my students attention and makes them want to find out more about the people that they are reading about. Thank you again for helping me bring these fabulous books into my classroom!”

  • Black Biographies

    Funded May 4, 2023

Thank you so much for helping me bring these wonderful books to the classroom. I love celebrating the amazing contributions that Black people have brought to our society, and I believe it is important to show children that professions are not race-specific. These books have brought joy to my students for their representation and the amazing facts that they contain. They have also brought understanding and curiosity, both of which make me incredibly happy to see in my classroom. I appreciate you support and generosity. Thank you!”

  • Mad Math Materials!

    Funded Jan 16, 2023

Thank you for choosing to donate to this project. I loved opening the boxes of materials during Morning Meeting and seeing their excitement grow as I took each item out. Since then, we have been able to use many of the materials purchased with your funding. My students love the Division Facts tower game (which is similar to Jenga), and love testing out how fast they can answer without knocking down the tower. One popular manipulative is the Multiplying Fraction squares, where the students can visually see what it looks like to multiply a fraction by a whole number or another fraction. Having the two colors has made it easy for my students to see that the overlap is the answer, and now many of them can confidently multiply fractions without the need of this tool.

I want to thank you again for your generous donation to this project. Whenever we move into math, I am often met with a chorus of groans, but when I take out these math materials, my students immediately perk up. Thank you so much for helping me engage my students in math!”

  • Celebrating the Different Holidays!

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

Thank you again for choosing to donate to my project. I chose to create this project because I wanted to celebrate diversity inside the classroom, and one way that I can do this is by honoring holidays. I have students that come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, and they become so excited when I mention food or holidays that they are familiar with. I knew that I wanted books that would represent the population of my classroom.

I have now read a couple of the books, and I am so happy with how they have been received. My students were fascinated with the history of St. Patrick's Day in our country, and they could not believe that some places turn their rivers green in honor of it! We have also learned about holidays that were previously unknown, like Holi. Hearing about these different holidays inspired some of my students to research the holidays on their own, and it was so satisfying to see their interest in other cultures. Thank you again for your incredibly generous donation!”

  • Picture Book Library Refresh

    Funded Nov 16, 2022

Thank you so much for helping me refresh my picture book library. My students love being read to, and they have thoroughly enjoyed listening to many of these books. I love picture books because they are wonderful tools that can be used to teach complex topics. This year I am focusing on figurative language, theme, and character traits with my fifth graders. Books like Cinder Edna and Perfectly Norman give students the opportunity to find meaning within simple storylines, which increases comprehension. I am incredibly grateful that you chose to donate to this project. Thank you again!”

  • We Love Teacher's Pay Teachers!

    Funded Oct 11, 2022

Thank you so much for choosing to donate this project. I love Teachers Pay Teachers, which is a wonderful website where teachers can purchase materials that other educators have made. This website saves me so much time because I no longer have to create my own worksheets or units. I love that I am able to purchase units while supporting other educators.

My students have been loving these resources. We recently completed a Biography Cereal Box focusing on several Black inventors like Garrett Morgan and Marie Von Brittan Brown. I've also been able to purchase math worksheets to help my students get extra math practice outside of our workbooks. Thank you again!”

  • Super Supplies!

    Funded Apr 21, 2022

The supplies that I received from this project have been invaluable. The laminating machine has made my life so much easier, and so many papers have lasted longer because of it. My students love the supply caddies, which we have chosen to keep our art supplies on. Also, I am constantly using the cart organizer to keep track of which handouts I am using on each day, which has allowed me to be more organized in my preparation of the lessons of the week. The materials and more have been put to great use, and my students and I are very thankful to have them. Thanks again for donating to this project!”

  • Classy Clean Classroom

    Funded Dec 22, 2021

Thank you so much for your generosity in donating to this project. When we opened the package, the students were curious about how we were going to use many of the items. One of our class jobs is the class custodian, who is in charge of vacuuming the classroom in the first five minutes of class. The students have really taken ownership of keeping the classroom clean, which has freed up my time after school to focus on lesson planning, rather than cleaning. I really appreciate that you chose to donate to this project!”

  • Skin Color Art Materials

    Funded Dec 11, 2021

Thank you so much for helping me fund this project. My students come in all different shades of color, and it has been so gratifying to see how they represent themselves and the characters they draw with the materials you helped to purchase. When I opened the box and showed them the different crayons, markers, and color pencils, they erupted in cheers and whooped and hollered! They were so incredibly excited and wanted to use the materials immediately. We will be making self-portraits in the upcoming weeks, so these art materials will be put to great use. Thank you again for your amazing donations!”

As a first year teacher, I do not have very many resources to pull from to create a classroom learning environment that doesn't rely on tacky bulletin boards and cheesy posters handed down from previous teachers. My hope is that, with your help, I will be able to decorate my classroom in beautiful, calm colors, which will not distract or overload my students. It may not seem like much, but creating a beautiful workspace for my students and I to work in is a priority for me, since we will be transitioning to in-person learning, and that in and of itself is quite overwhelming. By creating a calm and visually-beautiful learning environment, I will set up my students for a successful day of learning, just by having them walk through the door!
