One tool that will greatly support all learners in our classroom is a technology. We are located in a large, high-need, Title 1 school where regular technology access is, unfortunately, a challenge. English is the second language for majority of our students, and we know that our students' vocabulary, fluency, and basic language skills can be improved through regular, one-to-one use of a computer.
Technology supports four key components of learning: active engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback, and connection to the real-world. This one-to-one computer/technology access will allow the students to raise their level of writing and to attain the computer literacy necessary for higher learning. Technology also changes the way teachers teach, offering educators effective ways to reach different types of learners and assess student understanding through multiple means. It also enhances the relationship between teacher and student. When technology is effectively integrated into subject areas, teachers grow into roles of adviser, content expert, and coach. Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun.
My current school, shares a total of 3 laptop cart amongst 1400 students. This deficit in resources limits opportunities that maximize the classroom experience and enhance my students digital literacy.
I am asking for the ANY support to help me work toward getting my students a classroom set of iPad ($300 each) cases ($8-20 each). This will aid me in integrating technology into my teaching and help prepare my students for this digital age we live in.
We will be forever thankful for your generosity. Every cent helps!
