Books for My Nook
Funded Dec 1, 2021Thank you so so much for donating to my project! My class and I love reading books together and these children's books are great in so many ways! It facilitates discussion, it can be used to remind us of ELA themes we have been working on throughout the year, and they can also be turned into full lessons by having students dive deep. Some even use books like these that we read in class as inspiration to their creative writing assignments! Thank you so much!”

Happy Students, Happy Life!
Funded Sep 18, 2021Thank you so much! Books like these will really help my students develop a positive mindset and growth mentality that they can use their entire lives - that can change how they think of themselves as learners (& as a valuable person) for their entire lives! I love using books to help get a deeper message across and inspire students to reflect and grow and these will be a wonderful addition to my library! Thank you SO MUCH!”

Welcome to My Library!
Funded Aug 20, 2021Thank you so much for donating to my project! I am so happy to have this "library" available to my students while we are virtual and to share my love of books with them! I hope having targeted books on display also helps them with growth mindset and empowerment through the titles and cover images for social justice!”

Creativity, Growth Mindset, Writing, & More!
Funded Feb 10, 2021Thank you so very much for donating to this project! My students loved the riddles! It was something they would ask for and look forward to each day! My favorite were the books with different versions of classic stories (Cinderella, Hansel & Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, etc) because I was able to use them in so many different ways! Not only were they engaging and able to be used for many aspects of our ELA standards, but they were also able to show the differences between cultures and help us learn about different places and people. All of these books were great, and I am so happy to have them! Thank you so much!”

Teaching Equity, Rewarding Prizes
Funded Apr 13, 2021Thank you SO MUCH for donating to this project! My students were very motivated to win these prizes! I was able to adjust our goals to help keep them motivated and engaged which was something we really needed towards the end of the school year! It went so well, in fact, that I am planning to do it again this year! The prizes seemed so big for them, and it was really just great to see their excitement when I was able to introduce them, and even more so when they would win one based on their hard work! Thank you so so much, really!”

Funded Dec 31, 2020I can't thank you enough for funding this project! It was a challenge to learn the different ways to do things on a Mac versus my Windows work laptop (who would have thought that even something as simple as "copy & paste" could be different based on what computer it was?!) BUT I did get the hang of it & I am still learning! Most importantly, I didn't have any more lag or issues with the computer completely crashing as I was trying to teach a lesson. That had been my biggest issue, and it was seriously revolutionary to be able to teach an entire day without a tech issue! I know this was super expensive, and I still can't believe it even got funded! Thank you so so much for your generosity! I am teaching virtually this year as well, so it is going to help me A LOT by having it! Thank you, thank you!”

Food for Thought
Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you so much for donating to this project! My students LOVED these books & I was able to create entire lesson plans around some of them! They really helped my students with growth mindset - it was amazing to see them shift through the school year from thinking it was funny and "cool" to talk down on themself to being positive to each other and using positive language when they got something wrong. We were also able to use some of the books to empower them to love themselves and see themselves as valuable and worthy of love, which is something I think they really needed during this difficult time due to the pandemic and other world issues. In addition, some of the books helped show the power of perseverance - they even inspire ME to do better and keep going even when it's hard. So, thank you. Really, it was truly a gift to have these!”

Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you so much for helping me get these science resources for my classroom! The class favorite ended up being (unsurprisingly) the "Roll Race Activity Ramp" which we used to test friction, force, motion, and energy! Even using them virtually, my class had a blast! We did science at the end of the day, and we used it for two days. Both days, I had students who wanted to stay on later just to keep choosing different tracks for the cars to roll down! That particular standard is a tough one for them, but being able to use that resource helped them a lot - as well as helping them predict, make inferences, and using the scientific method! Another favorite was the life cycle set, having three different life cycles (chicken, frog, butterfly) helped them to really see the cycle as cyclical and induced a lot of productive conversation! Of course, all of the resources helped a lot - but those two were for sure the class favorites! Thank you so much for helping me make science something they looked forward to and bringing it to life a little bit more while in a virtual environment!”

Funded Mar 31, 2021Thank you SO MUCH for funding this project! My students were very surprised to be getting such a big box of snacks! With the short amount of time we had for lunch, it was hard for them to make lunch and eat, so they would just sit there and watch youtube and have a hard time focusing when lunch was over. Thanks to the snacks, they were able to at least eat something to hold them over until class was done and they could make a more substantial meal - as well as be more engaged with the lessons at the end of the school day! It was a win-win! The variety in the snack boxes was also something they loved! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
