Listen Up!
Funded Mar 27, 2018My students and I are lucky enough to have 1-to-1 iPads at our school and various educational apps to enhance student learning. But I have found that it is difficult for students to focus on their iPads when we don't use headphones. It gets very loud and students are easily distracted. But with our new headphones, students are able to listen to their iPads without distractions from others. Plus it has makes a much quieter classroom (which I love!)
I'm looking forward to using our headphones with microphones in the future. I can't wait to have students record their reading and play it back. I'm sure my students will be thrilled to hear themselves reading!
Thank you for your generosity! My students and I will definitely benefit from your gift.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple.Get Comfortable!
Funded Sep 1, 2017My students were so excited when they saw their new bean bag chairs and pillows. The bright colors drew their attention and the cozy sitting area has kept their interest. Each student gets to visit the classroom library weekly to find new books to read and to find a comfy pillow or bean bag chair to read in. My students also choose to sit in a bean bag chair when they need a quiet place to focus or calm down.
Because of your generous gift, I've seen improvements in both their reading ability and their love of reading. We will continue to make our weekly visits to the library to continue our reading improvement and to enjoy a good book!”

Funded May 30, 2017Thank you once again for your generous donation. My students are loving their new headphones with microphones. They feel so cool wearing them, plus the headphones are comfortable and seem fairly sturdy. (A plus for me because they will last longer and be harder for the kids to break, unlike previous earbuds we've had.)
We have many iPad apps that require headphones for students to concentrate and do their best in completing the tasks. With the use of the headphones, my students are able to successfully complete assignments on their iPads. In the future, I would also like my students to create video projects which will require them to record themselves. The built in microphones will allow students to this. My students are so excited to get started with creating things on their iPads using the headphones.”

Let's Work (Anywhere)
Funded May 20, 2016I would like to thank you for supporting my classroom. My students were thrilled when they saw their new clipboards and mini-white boards. In fact, using the white boards during math has become their favorite part of the day. When I take them out, they can't wait to get started!
My students use the clipboards whenever they need to write something away from their desks. For example, sometimes students go to the carpet to use charts when they are writing or completing other assignments. My students use the white boards and markers during math time. I'll write a math problem on the board and they use their white boards to work out the problem and show what they know. (Again, they love this! It is so much easier for them (and me) to write on the boards, as opposed to paper.)
In the future I would like to incorporate the clipboards more. I would like to set up centers around the room for students to visit and practice their reading and math. The students would use the clipboards to record their work. Thanks again for your generous contributions to my classroom.”

Ms. Brown
For the Love of Reading
Funded Jul 14, 2015My students and I love our new classroom library! Our library books are now leveled by reading ability and displayed in our new book bins. Each week my student's visit our classroom library to pick books to read for the week – one "look book" (a book they pick to read for fun, but may be too hard to read on their own) and one book at their reading level. They keep their books, along with other reading materials, in their book bags. Throughout the week, my students read their books during independent reading time. I have seen huge improvements in my students reading abilities this year. Most importantly they truly love to read!
It took a while for me to level and organize all my books, but once the library was up and running, the kids were so excited, especially when they saw that each had their own personal book bag to keep their books in. They couldn't wait to pick out books! I like it because each student is able to pick a book at their reading level. It is important for kids to read books that are level appropriate in order to improve reading fluency. If they read books that are too hard or too easy, their reading will not improve.
We will continue to pick books each week from our new leveled library and keep them in our book bags. Eventually, my students will start taking their book bags home to practice reading at home. I hope that independently reading at school and home will continue to improve my students reading abilities.
Thank you so much for your generosity.”

Let's Get Published
Funded May 15, 2014My students and I were so excited to receive our new color printer. The best part of having the color printer was to see my students light up when their stories came out of the printer in color. They could hardly wait for their turn to print. Plus, they were amazed that they could print straight from their iPads wirelessly.
My students have been busy writing (currently we're working on How-To stories). When they are finished with their writing piece they use their iPads to publish. The final step is to print what they have created and share it with the class.
The color printer has helped my students view themselves as real writers and gotten them excited about writing. In the past we published with paper, crayons, and pencils, which led to whining and complaining. But now they can type and draw their stories on their iPads. With the printer we're able to print the stories right from their iPads.”
