Crafts and Creativity for Neurodiverse Students
Funded Oct 20, 2024Thank you so much for your donations to our classroom at PS 112! The kids are so happy to be crafting more! Their favorites have been the paint, beads, and friendship bracelet supplies. We've gotten to make so many projects that they're able to take home and share with their families and hang in their classrooms.
Most recently, we did an Ezra Jack Keats unit in which we learned about the author, read A Snowy Day, and made snowflake sun catchers to hang in their windows at home. This was extra special for us because Ezra Jack Keats is from NYC and was one of the first authors to write about living in the city, which is so relatable for them. Thanks for helping make learning fun and dynamic!”

Sensory Supports for Students With Unique Needs
Funded Sep 7, 2022Thank you so much for your contributions to my project! These materials have made my classroom a much more calm and sensory-friendly place. My students are able to enjoy the soft lighting of the lamps, the bubble fish lamp, and the ball pit daily. Students regularly visit my room when they need a quiet space to calm their bodies and get ready to learn. It is critical to have these spaces at school, and traditional classroom environments aren't always able to provide this. These materials will be used for years to support the students of North Star, especially those that are not neurotypical. The crew here at North Star thanks you immensely!”

Books for Language Development
Funded Aug 22, 2022Thank you so much for all of the books and TPT gift card! These materials are already being put to work. We have completed units using many of them already! A fan favorite has been "Room on the Broom," since our students love Halloween. I'm really looking forward to digging into "A Unicorn Named Sparkle," it's so cute and has a great message.
Having access to teachers pay teachers allows me to plan extra engaging activities much more efficiently. My kids love using these digital activities on the smartboard or on their chromebooks. It's great to see them use books to improve their language skills and become amazing communicators.
Again, books are great for speech-language intervention as they can be used to target so many skills--from social skills to vocabulary to grammar. Title One schools such as North Star have limited access to high quality materials, so thank you for your generosity!”

Make Speech Fun!
Funded Dec 21, 2021I wanted to say thank you so much for your contributions to my project for North Star Elementary! We are using these materials every day in our speech and language groups. These items go such a long way in making what can be mundane so much fun. Our students are loving their new materials, and they are making my job easier as well!
The puzzles, games, and wind up toys have been so motivating for our students with special needs. They have been practicing taking turns, making choices, cognitive skills, and expanding their vocabularies with these new tools. They will be used and loved at North Star for years to come! We have also been loving the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards. These have been amazing for all students across grade levels. I have been able to purchase over 10 super fun lessons with these gift cards--and I still have lots left to spend! We have been really enjoying some of the interactive digital lessons that allow students to learn dynamically. I love that this is a double win as I am able to pay my fellow teachers for their work in creating these lessons.
Again, I can't thank you enough for the way your contributions have changed my school year and my students' school year. We appreciate you so, so much!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Rachel
