  • Library and Writing Centers for the Win!

    Funded Sep 11, 2015

Thank you so much to all of our incredible donors who granted us writing materials and our very own couch! Thanks to your dedication and good will we were able to finally find a nice spot to read our favorite books. As you see by the pictures we were excited to get to work write away.

Now we use our own pencil grips to practice grip handling and writing. We love to draw and write on our white boards with our new erasers and erasable markers. And most of all, we love our new couch. We usually cozy up to read a book or even lay down for a rest if we need.

We look forward to may years of enjoyment and fulfillment using the couch and have all of you to thank. THANK YOU for your kind donation; it has truly meant the world to us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Quintana-Marofske

  • Special Teaching for Special Learners

    Funded Nov 10, 2015

Thank you so much for all of your dedication to our students with special needs! When we got word that we would be getting our project funded we were so excited! All of the students jumped up and began high-fiving each other.

We community commitment like the one you have shown us we are positive that our work to continue providing our students with individualized support will be easier than before. Now that we have our printer, binder, and drawing, binding, and printer materials we are able to make so many different individualized books for our students to learn in their own way.

With the materials we have made so far we see a difference in the confidence and academic growth of our students. Their abilities have become a point of pride within each of them and we see nothing but sky rocketing movement as we keep learning throughout the year.

Google, thank you for your continued support of students with special needs. We see you as a thought partner in our work and are so thankful you have been so generous.”

  • Cleaning Up the Carpet

    Funded Aug 24, 2015

We are so thankful to have gotten the carpet washer! It has given us the ability to clean our carpet every time we it gets dirty. We has also given us a cleaner environment which has led to more concentration on lesson during whole group instruction.

Further, thank you for thinking about our health; now that our carpet is clean we are having less issues with asthma and less skin irritations throughout the day.

We look forward to many years of clean carpets and lessons where the focus is what we're learning and not the carpet.”

  • "Lego" of Some Cash for Legos in our Classroom!

    Funded Dec 23, 2014

Thank you very much for your kind donations during the holiday season. We know that the holiday are always packed with 'to do" lists and many responsibilities but your giving spirit filled our hearts with joy. Not only were you very giving (which is amazing) but you also gave in record time. We were able to fully fund our project in four days! That was so amazing and we feel so humbled because of the love we were shown.

As we move on with the year your donations have made a tremendous impact. Some of my students who were having a difficult time counting numbers 1-50 have been making specific, and strategic gains. They are able to count to 50 using one to one correspondence. On the other hand, those students who need to be challenged are able to skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s.

In the short amount of time that we have had the math games I have seen many positives. Students have higher fluency with counting to 100, they are able to add with more ease, and they can skip count. Not to mention that the games and legos have given them a secret power; the power of story telling! They love to sit and play the math games and create fun word problems as they count or add.

As a teacher it makes me so happy to see my students are becoming more successful in kindergarten math. Between the hard work my students put forth, the excitement for the games, and the games themselves, my students are on track to be at a 93% understanding of our math objectives by end of year. By June 93% of them will be at grade level for addition, number recognition, and counting fluency!

Without your generous donation we would not be having this much fun adding and counting. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Quintana-Marofske

  • A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That for Writing

    Funded Sep 25, 2014

It has been over a month since we got our amazing 'Star Word" resources and we couldn't be any more excited and thankful! 100% of the students have since learned at least six words (of the total 35 we have worked on) with a total of 85% of students mastering all of the "Star Words". That is 5% more that our original 80% goal we set at the beginning of the year.

Further, the students are so engaged that I am able to challenged 12 (out of 24) by giving them their own special words (aside from the classroom set). On average these smarty pants are learning four extra words a week which will help them master 80-90 more words than what the district requires this year alone!

All of this success is because of your generous donation. Thank you for choosing our project- you have made all the difference.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Quintana-Marofske

  • Roses are Red, Violets Blue, Can You Help with a $1 or $2?

    Funded Oct 2, 2013

Since we received our materials the students have been so excited to write, read, and rhyme! The snap blocks, letter magnets, dry erase markers, and books are used on a daily basis.

Students are beginning to have a more concrete understanding of rhyming via the books. The 'Old Lady' series of books has had them laughing hysterically for the past couple of weeks and their rhyming ability has increased to the tune of a 30% improvement in the first three weeks since we have received the materials. They are able to work on their own Smart Words (sight words) using the snap blocks and letter magnets. Since beginning Smart Word time 98% of students know, at least, three sight words and five of my 20 students have learned 10 new words!

Every time we take our materials out I see the spark of energy and self esteem my students get because the materials help them learn in a way that is age appropriate for them. They always knew they could learn and now they have evidence that their brains are growing bigger!

All this is because of you, thank you!”

  • Come and Make a Circle, a Circle, a Circle... on the Carpet!

    Funded Oct 20, 2012

Thank you so much for our new carpet!!! We are so thankful that you made our carpet dreams come true. Our new carpet arrived ready to use and everyone loves all the colors. Its arrival made everyone jump for joy (literally) and all the students promised to take care of it and to make sure that everyone stays in their own spot.

Your generosity has enabled three and four year olds to learn about personal space and turn taking; we have learned our colors, patterns, we practice numbers, and counting on it. We even started a 'turn and share' moment of the day when students turn to their elbow partners and share their answers to questions.

One might think that a carpet surely can't do all of that. But YES IT CAN!! My students and I are so thankful that were able to donate to our project and we hope that with the carpet and everything we learn on it, we can make you proud.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Quintana-Marofske

My students come from different backgrounds; they are from various multi-ethnic backgrounds, they are free/reduced lunch recipients, and we learn in a blended (SpEd & GenEd) and bilingual classroom. They are smart and they know it! They are the smartest pre-schoolers in the city. They are precocious and keep me accountable for teaching them everyday!
