    Funded Dec 5, 2017

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Please let us again express our most sincere appreciation for your generosity and kindness in mobilizing our project; Help Our Student Scientists Explore Changes in Temperature! With these appliances, we were able to track the growth of mold using temperature as a variable. We were also able to observe the differences in using cooled microwaved tap water to water plants versus using regular tap water.

Thank you for believing in my vision for reaching children and understanding that STEM Education (and STEAM Education) is critical for success of our future generations. And again, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in helping my students. I know that these materials will continue be put to good use!”

  • Teaching Tolerance: Using 3D Printing for Service Learning Projects!

    Funded Aug 20, 2017

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Please let us again express our most sincere appreciation for your generosity and kindness in mobilizing our project; Teaching Tolerance: Using 3D Printing for Service Learning Projects! Your funding has helped bring fun, yet meaningful, service-learning projects to life.

With your contributions, we have turned my classroom into a more engaging, innovative, and kind place. With your donations, we were able to design and build a prosthetic leg for a dog named Walter. Walter lost his leg due to an attack from another dog, and my students were able to learn about Walter; his needs for mobility, and build him a prosthetic leg. Though please know, this is not the end. My students will continue to build usable prosthetics for both humans and animals. And, there is no better way to build tolerance for humans and animals with physical disabilities than building their prosthetics. My students are changing the world, right from my classroom.

Thank you for believing in my vision for reaching children and understanding that STEAM Education and building tolerance is critical for success of our future generations. And again, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. I look forward to providing many more hands-on, interactive projects in the future.”

  • Full STEAM Ahead! Help Us Create 3D Designs With 3Doodler!

    Funded Jan 20, 2017

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Please let us again express our most sincere appreciation for all of your donations to our project, "Full STEAM Ahead! Help Us Create 3D Designs With 3Doodler!". Your funding has helped bring amazingly fun, hands-on and collaborative lessons to my current and future students.

My students have exploring the world of geometry, measurement and design with our 3Doodlers. Specifically, the students have been using their 3Doodlers in Mathematics to create three-dimensional shapes. After designing their figures, students calculated their approximate length through measuring their three-dimensional shapes with rulers. Students then were able to calculate the surface area and volume of their figures. Your donations allowed my students to make real-life connections to Mathematics, and better understand the purpose of finding surface area and volume. This is usually a tough topic for my students, but the 3Doodlers made learning more enjoyable and relatable.

Thank you for believing in my vision for reaching children and understanding that STEAM Education is critical for success of our future generations. And again, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. My students love these 3Doodler pens and want to use it all of them time! I look forward to providing many more hands-on, interactive projects in the future.”

  • Help Us Take a Closer Look to Learn With ELMO!

    Funded Dec 12, 2016

I cannot fully express our most sincere appreciation for all of your donations to our project, "Help Us Take a Closer Look to Learn With ELMO!". The document camera that you have funded has helped bring fun, hands-on and collaborative lessons to my current and future students.

As of right now, students have been using our document camera in Mathematics. Students have been using this to demonstrate how they find answers their answers, sharing their pre-completed work and how to model using manipulatives. As a teacher, it has helped improve my instruction with hand-on materials, and allows for all students to easily view visual demonstrations; such as how to properly operate specific calculator functions. We can not wait to use it when we get to Earth Science! We are going to be able to be able to observe items that cannot fit under a microscope, but do fit under the document camera; such as rocks and plants.

Thank you for believing in my vision for reaching children and understanding that STEM Education is critical for success of our future generations. And again, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. My students love this document camera and want to use it all of them time! I look forward to providing many more hands-on, interactive projects in the future.”

  • Help Our 5th Graders Continue to Make "STEAM"!

    Funded Aug 19, 2016

I cannot fully express our most sincere appreciation for all of your donations for our project, "Help Our 5th Graders Continue to Make STEAM!". The Matter and Form 3D Scanner and 3D printing materials that you have funded have helped me continue to bring fun, educational and innovative lessons to my current and future students.

Our Matter and Form 3D Scanner works with our MakerBot 3D replicator in printing amazing, innovative items. Currently, students have been collaborating in groups to create a collectible item for a population of consumers they wish to target. For example, some students wanted to create a collectible item for young children, while other students wanted to focus on collectibles for teenagers. Students have been researching the market, designing a product, identifying the overall costs to mass-produce the item and determining the margin for profit. Students have also created a company, company logo, slogan, mission and vision for their brand and a stock-trading symbol.

As of right now, some students have designing their 3D models either digitally or by hand with he use of household items or clay. If students complete a physical model, this where our 3D scanner is used. Students are able to 3D scan their physical item and create a digital version to then print our 3D printer. This has helped student who have difficulty with online 3D design or students with specific disabilities.

As soon as all of our students have printed out their 3D designs, students will come dressed for success in business suits and dresses and present a sales pitch to their classmates using their printed 3D model and a PowerPoint presentation of overall cost and sale projections. Keep in mind that my 5th graders students doing the same business planning, designing, 3D scanning and printing and marketing that real professionals do! Through your donations, you have inspired many of my students to attend college to obtain a career in a STEM-related positions.

Thank you for believing in my vision for reaching children and understanding that STEM Education is critical for success of our future generations. And again, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. My students loved these materials. I look forward to providing many more hands-on, interactive projects in the future.”

  • Microscopes for Future Scientists!

    Funded Apr 15, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Thank you so much! I cannot fully express our appreciation for your contributions to our project, Microscopes for Future Scientist! The OMAX Digital Lab LED Binocular Compound Microscopes and supplies have helped my students learn how to analyze, compare and contrast microscopic observations.

These microscopes were used to complete an intense week-long science lab for my 5th graders. Through materials and fish donated by a local university, students mated zebrafish, collected the fertilized eggs, and observed the embryos through the two OMAX Digital Lab LED Binocular Compound Microscopes you helped fund. At the end of this unit, we even observed many of the zebrafish fish hatch! These microscopes allowed my students to record and track the fish from conception to birth. The purpose of this lab was for students to compare the zebrafish to human embryos to better understand why zebrafish are used in scientific research. Through this activity, students were able to observe that zebrafish are not very different from humans. Zebrafish are able to contract many of the same illnesses and diseases humans can, such as high cholesterol and diabetes. At the conclusion of the lab, students analyzed the differences between fish and humans and completed a dissertation. Yes, these 5th grade students completed a research dissertation complete with an abstract, literature review, research question, observations (data collection) and a summary of findings. I can honestly say I have never seen my students more engaged in learning than when working with our new microscopes. Through your donations, you have definitely helped inspire many of my students to attend college to obtain a career in for a STEM-related position.

Again, thank you for believing in my vision for reaching children and understanding that STEM Education is critical for success of our future generations. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. My students love this equipment and ask to use it daily. I look forward to providing many more hands-on, interactive projects in the future with these microscopes.”
