The donations from Donors Choose have significantly enhanced the atmosphere in my classroom, creating a happy and thriving environment for my students. The addition of beautiful plants not only livens up the space but also instills a sense of responsibility in my students as they take turns watering them. The stress toys help redirect student focus, contributing to a more productive learning experience. When students feel safe and secure, their happiness increases, which in turn improves their ability to learn.
I aimed to create a welcoming and calming space rather than a sterile one, and the artwork displayed throughout the room has achieved this goal. The student art gallery showcases their creativity, demonstrating that I value their work and contributions. This nurturing environment fosters a sense of belonging, further enabling my students to engage with their learning and feel proud of their classroom.”

Thank you for your generous support to my classroom and students.
Your donations will provide my students with the necessary support during their most vulnerable time of the month. It means so much knowing that supporters like yourself can care about my students as much as I do. My students thank you!”

Having materials that elevate my classroom really make my lessons shine. Students instantly feel valued and their worth is recognized. I got a lot of " really someone gave these to us?!" Its makes so so happy to see my students smile over a drawing/writing lesson because they are using materials that seem professional or "high end". It makes such a difference in the quality of artmaking and class attention when these items are used. My students are used to their art being displayed, but then a book or their writings its a magical effect. I am re introducing the value of writing in my arts classroom and its creating a huge shift in the quality of writing.
Your donations allow my students to find value in their classwork but in truth its really re discovering the value in themselves.”

Since your donations arrived I was able to provide my students with resources to give them the basics needs to start learning at a new school. The transition was hard for many but with a space so welcoming and inviting I was able to reassure them that they are welcomed. Posters in Spanish reflecting positive affirmations, putty to relax tense hands, and visual centered games helped build classroom unity and confidence within my new students. Having my pocket translator allowed for easy seamless conversation and allows me to teach my classroom with those students who need the language support in mind. Without pausing to translate, this tool has made it easier for me to teacher, and easier for my students to learn.
My goal as an educator is to create a space that is inviting and welcoming for all. During times like these these donations have really allowed me to keep my promise to my students and my commitment to the community I work in.”

As we welcome more migrant children into our city, I feel so lucky to have the funded resources to greet them with welcome bags when they arrive to my class. I have explain the goal with a handful of students, who during their lunch period, have volunteered to help me create and package the bags for these new students. It was so beautiful to see my students express empathy and feel compassionate towards wanting to give something to someone else. They asked about the purpose of the materials in the bags and we spoke about current events that lead to this projects purpose. With this action alone I hope to build a stronger sense of community within our current and new students.
The resources provided in this project will be able to extend to not just new students, but other students who are in temporary housing, and in emergency need. I have distributed bags to students and don't expect any reaction in return, as I don't view this as a gift but rather something to give them to know that we care and that they matter.”

My advanced placement 2D art and design students were so thankful for your gift to our classroom and with all our creative hearts we say THANK YOU. Because of your gift my classroom was able to make my students have access to Apple Drawing Pens to go with their IPads. These pens were the missing component in granting my students college level digital drawing skills need to demonstrate their art making abilities for the college board exams. This simple tool granted the level of technical learning needed to reach a college level mastery in digital drawing and design.
My AP students explored art making with digital applications and programs like procreate and photoshop. Within these programs students learned how to illustrate characters, draw 3D forms and how to edit photographs. They learned how to use these applications paired with the pens to help alter their images and create college level work with the requirements needed to demonstrate a beginning level of digital drawing comprehension. My students were able to create portfolios with work that showcased their new applied skills which came from using these pens. It truly allowed for the artwork exhibited to match the advanced placement requirements.
I am excited to now include and integrate these pens within my curriculum for the following AP course and continue providing access to all my students when they are needed for portfolio development and college exams.Thank you again for giving my classroom the gift of digital the mark making! Looking forward to the continued gift of giving access to the digital art world to all my future students.”
