Building Our 6th-Grade Classroom Library
Funded Oct 1, 2021These books have opened my students' minds and hearts to other worlds through these books. Students who have struggled to find books that they identify with have been able to build their interest in new genres and authors of all races and walks of life. Reading about magical worlds with people of color as the lead characters, in Ikenga by Nnedi Okorafor and Kingston by Rucker Morses & Theo Gangi, has allowed students' imaginations to grow.
Students who have struggled to read books on their reading level of high quality and not run through by previous sets of hands have been introduced to new authors and book series. Reading I Am Every Good Thing by Derrick Barnes & Gordon C. James and The Little Leaders books by Vashti Harrison has expanded my students' sense of self and allowed them to see futures previously unseen and expounded upon within the classroom.
The classroom materials helped enhance the learning experience for the grade as I teach in multiple classrooms and share materials with the grade teachers and staff. The stamps and planner allow me to connect with my students, other teachers, and parents in a fun and colorful way. The Birthday Crowns, wrist bands, stickers, and erasers are used throughout the 6th grade to celebrate student birthdays. Teachers enjoy using the items and students enjoy parading around the school and being celebrated by others within the community.
We are grateful for your donations and use them daily to enhance our learning experience and community environment!”

Funded Aug 17, 2021This device has been essential to my abilities to teach and plan on the go.
Within the classroom, the device has allowed for student stress relief and skills practice. My students have been able to use the device to help me set up our physical library within our classroom by actually listing books in our classroom registry.
Within the school campus, this device has allowed me to transfer to multiple classrooms with different hookups to various smart devices with ease and grace. This school year has been easy and seamless with regard to technology and my preparedness to educate the future.
This device gave this teacher the courage to apply for more things needed within my classroom. Since getting this device with your help we have been able to raise over $2400 for young learners in the Bronx. We have built a library that serves all readers regardless of their reading levels and filled a teacher with confidence in her ability to teach future leaders of tomorrow.”

Funded Dec 24, 2021These items will allow students in need of progressive reading options to read at their learning pace and practice reading skills according to their educational plans. These decorations will allow for student work to be displayed within the classroom and in public places with pop and style. These times allow for fewer times for traditional community so these items when used make a difference!”
