Watch the Stars Shine!
Funded Jul 24, 2012Thank you so much! We have finally gotten a chance to set up the beautiful risers you donated to our school, and they are wonderful! I told the students at last year's concert that I wished we had risers, but we really could not afford them. They were blown away when I told them how much risers really cost, and even more so that you were willing to give that much money. They were also very interested in the idea of a group of people working together and doing whatever they were able to help others. They can not wait for their first concert, and I know their parents will be thrilled to see all those sweet faces singing together. Your generosity has touched my students this year, but will benefit students for many years to come!”

Oh My! We're Orff-less!
Funded Dec 30, 2011Wow! We are so grateful for each and every one of you! The students have now had some time to play the instruments that you gave them, and they all love them! We would not have been able to purchase instruments like these for years considering the budget cuts we have been facing. The students have begun learning basic techniques for playing these instruments, and it also gives them a positive incentive for good behavior. When I begin setting up the instruments in our little classroom, all of the students' voices turn off and they become amazing listeners because they all want to play.
We have just learned to put basic drones (octaves and fifths) on the instruments with good mallet technique. Now, we are moving forward by playing rhythmic ostinatos (short repeated patterns) on a single pitch on the instruments. The kids are so excited to play that they are really working hard to read their notes and rhythms. They also all feel responsibility to care for the instruments so that they will be around for future generations of students. Thank you so much for bringing this joy and excitement for music to our classroom! You have provided a really amazing gateway to harmony and melody for some very special children. ”

History, Science and Good Character Through Musicals
Funded Nov 14, 2011I am so grateful for everything you have done for these wonderful kids! I showed them the musicals we received and they were so excited! We haven't yet had the chance to perform a whole show, of course, but we are beginning to use some of the individual songs from the shows, and they love them! I am looking forward to teaching a song from "Keep the Dream Alive" in honor of Martin Luther King Day, and the students are particularly looking forward to doing the show "Bugz."
This special gift you have given us means so much to these students right now, but I look forward to all of the future students who will be touched by the chance to perform for their loved ones. In this economy, I understand that your money has to stretch a bit further than it used to, so it means so much that you shared some with us.
Thank you for your gifts and support!”

Celebrating Sensational Citizens
Funded Sep 29, 2011Wow! What a difference supplies make! As soon as the paper came, I frantically copied music notes to reward the older students with your special gift. Each class of 5th graders that came in to my room immediately noticed the brand new paper. They said "Hey Miss P, when did you get new colors of music notes?" I told them all about you all and your generous gifts. They were amazed that kind strangers could be so generous. The stickers have made a huge impact, too. When one student gets a sparkly sticker for good behavior, suddenly everyone around them is quiet, sitting tall, and doing his or her best.
The gift you gave may not seem large to you, but the students' eyes lit up when they heard that you thought they were good enough, important enough to support. Thank you for caring for these future leaders of our nation. We now have the resources at this school to mold them into sensational citizens!”

Mrs. Beekman
