Smart Board
Funded Aug 24, 2014Thank You for the opportunity that your donation has afforded my students. Learning has taken a new turn in my classroom. The students are truly excited. Teaching and learning has become interactive and fun. My students are able to retain material faster and are able to learn without having a text-book in front of them. The smart board is used for each subject especially math. During group time the smart board allows me to effectively break my students up and have them rotate so that they are able to experience the information differently.
In addition the smart board has allowed my student's social skills to improve. They are able to come to the board together and work out problems, they support each other while others are at the board solve problems, and they remind each other of the rules of the smart board.
From my class to you , Thank You! for this wonderful gift!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Gates Foundation Back To School and 2 other donors.iPad To Enhance Learning In Special Education Classroom
Funded Mar 4, 2014I want to start by saying thank you for your donation, it was wonderful! My students were elated to here and see that there was an I-pad donated to our class. They were surprised and excited that they were going to have I-pad to call their own and to use during their instructional time. There is such a lack of technology in the classroom and this helped enhanced their academic experience.
In the classroom the I-pad has been used as a research tool and learning tool. My students this year have been requested to complete many research projects and with the lack of technology in many of their homes it was important that the students completed these projects in school. The I-pad was used during group times and shared amongst all of the students. All students would be assigned a task to complete and add to their group research project. In addition the students would take the I-pads along with them on class trips that related back to their projects. They would document the learning in the space that they were learning in through the I-pad provided. Once back in the classroom the pictures and information were printed and become a part of their research projects.
The I-pad also served as a learning tool for the students. Many of them are lacking in basic skill knowledge in subject areas such as reading and math. The I-pad allowed them to play reading and mathematical games and as they were thinking that they were just playing a game they were actually working on a skill that they needed to learn.
Overall this I-pad has truly enhanced the quality of education and learning in the classroom. It allowed the students to broaden their horizons and their experience in the classroom.
Sincerely,
Melissa Perez”
