Celebrating Dr. Seuss
Funded Feb 18, 2019My students had so much fun dressing up to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. They were so excited to see The Cat in the Hat in person! Thank you so much for providing this fun day for my students. Every child loves balloons and mine were no exception! They were so excited to take balloons home on the bus. Parents who came to see the kids perform, were so excited to see my students dressed up in their hats and headgear! The kids were really singing and playing their inflatable instruments. We were so surprised to see and hear students singing loud and proud when they were quiet and subdued during rehearsals. Thank you for making our celebration so much fun!!!”

Learning ADL Skills at Fairway Market
Funded Dec 21, 2018Thank you so much for donating this this project. My students look forward to visiting Fairway each week. My verbal students ask "Are we going to the market tomorrow?" I know that all of my students have learned new things since going on these trips. They have learned to pull the plastic produce bags and fill them with the fruits and veggies that they have chosen. I love that they have chosen these foods to eat for snack or even lunch time. Students who had never entered a market are able to walk and maneuver the aisles on their own. On our first few trips, these children got tired halfway through the visit and needed to be put into a shopping cart. Since our last trip, he could walk the entire trip and helped to request items he wanted. Thank you for this wonderful experience.”

Funded Jan 30, 2019My students are having a blast with the kitchen and washer/dryer. It's so great to see what they know about cooking and being a parent. Students who were having social problems have greatly improved their social skills, where they are initiating social interactions and share with other students. Students who come to visit love to explore the kitchen and make foods for their classmates. The kitchen has also helped students to complete work activities and tasks with more focus before going to the kitchen. Thank you for helping to make learning so much better for my students.”

Funded Jan 11, 2019thank you so much for donations to this project! My students have been learning to take out baby wipes and clean themselves and the tables after they make a mess. Students and adults love the paper towels to clean up bigger spills such as water and food that have spilled on the table and floors. The pull-ups have been extra special because we don't have to wait for parents to send in pull-ups, especially when there aren't any in the classroom. They are especially useful now that we are toilet training 2 students. Thank you once again for your help.”

Funded Sep 8, 2018My students love the science and math resources. The "sand" is one of the favorites for many of my students. They love the feel of the sand going through their fingers, as well as sifting though to look for items hidden inside. Not only is it a learning tool, but it is a calming tool for half my students. One non-verbal child will request the sand by reaching for the vicinity of where the sand box is. He does not request for anything. This same child is able to share and take turns playing with another child in the sand. Thank you for providing these science materials to my students. They love it in more than one way.”

Artist Supplies
Funded Sep 14, 2018Thank you all for donating to this project. My students had so much fun being artists!. Children who were very quiet were so engaged and loving art time! They all couldn't wait to wait on their canvas and make their creations. You provided this opportunity for my students. I know that the parents told us that they loved the pieces that the kids brought home.
After their first painting, the verbal students were asking when it was art again. And were very excited when they saw paints come out with the brushes. They sat and waited for instructions to start. Thank you for making art fun for my students.”

Lion King on Broadway, Part 3
Funded Jan 24, 2018Thank you all so much for donating to this project. I can't express how grateful I am for your donations. My students and the parent chaperones were so excited to go on this trip. This was a trip of a lifetime for many of these students. Even when we were stuck in the tunnel because of traffic, their spirits could not be dimmed. They started singing songs from the Lion King and received clasp from neighboring cars.
They had so much fun visiting a dance studio and learning a dance move from the Lion King. They especially loved watching the show and seeing how each performer was on stage. During intermission, many even said that we have to step up our show. I am so glad that this show helped to influence their onstage performance, as well as giving them inspirations to do better. Many of the graduating students even said that they would come back next year just to do the show. Thank you for giving them this experience.”

Funded Dec 16, 2017Thank you all so much for donating to this project. My students had so much fun watching the Lion King on Broadway. For many, this was the first time they have ever seen a show on Broadway or even gone to visit Times Square. They were so excited about seeing the show and recognizing the characters in the show, as well as noticing how the performers in stage were doing their roles. My students took a lot away from this trip. When we came back to school, they all had ideas and gave input to make our school performance even better. This trip gave them the inspiration and increased their interest in performing for others. Thank you for this wonderful experience.”
