  • Success Seekers: Maintaining and Achieving Our Goals

    Funded Oct 14, 2012

Thank you for your generous donations to my project. With your support, you are paving the way for future leaders!

The binders have been turned into a data collecting center that houses all the work students do in reading, writing, and math, as well as conference notes and graphs showing student progress. My students are tracking their success as they progress through each unit. The beautiful binder shelves make a lovely addition to our classroom and is an organized display to house all the data binders.

Through your support, my students are able to keep track of something more valuable than papers--their goals for the units and the year! The students love using their data binders and know that each test, quiz, or project has a home within the binder--and they even try to beat their previous scores!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ormsbee

  • From Textbooks to SmartBoard: A Virtual Trip Back in Time

    Funded Dec 11, 2010

As we continue our unit on Canada, the students are so excited to experience the country through the Smart Board. The amount of resources the students have access to via the Internet is immense and everyone is able to view and experience the content. The virtual field trips to Canada help students draw upon their knowledge before they study a country and its people. By taking these virtual field trips, students are able to visit places that they may not have an opportunity to see, even our friendly neighbor to the north.

In addition to virtual field trips, I can create SmartBoard lessons on the laptop that highlight the social studies curriculum. Students are able to interact with the SmartBoard, play games that reinforce the current social studies topics, listen to real life accounts from those people who've lived through certain time periods, as well as review the topics before taking a test. Students need to be engaged in the content for true learning to happen.

Because of your generous donation, my students can experience social studies in an interactive way--Bo Bennett once said,"Enthusiasm is excitement with inspiration, motivation, and a pinch of creativity." Thank you for being an inspiration for my students and for giving me the means to foster a love of learning!”

  • Oh, A Space Of My Own

    Funded Aug 16, 2010

Robert Southly once said, "Order is the sanity of the mind, the health of the body, the peace of the city, the security of the state. Like beams in a house or bones to a body, so is order to all things." Without organization, children cannot do their best learning. With your help, my students now have a place to put their materials. They are becoming efficient at retrieving and storing their things--the classroom is less cluttered and materials aren't lost.

Now that the students have their own space, they take pride in keeping it neat and orderly--they are using their time effectively and less time is spent looking for lost materials. More learning is taking place because of the order within the room. The children are excited to use their cubbies each day and I look forward to their materials being put away.

We all thank you for your generous donation--without it, the students wouldn't gain the independence and organization they need to succeed. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ormsbee

  • Building Tolerance with an ELMO Visual Presenter

    Funded Dec 20, 2008

I am so excited to tell my students about our new project! Thank you for your generous donations! The visual presenter will add a new depth to the students' classroom experiences. I am especially grateful to know that there are others who believe that knowledge is power. Your support shows the students that you believe in tolerance, which, to me, gives hope for the future. I sincerely thank you for believing that I can make a difference. :”

  • Calling All Young Philanthropists!

    Funded Sep 28, 2007

Thank you so much for your generous donation. The supplies will be used to help the students organize, revise, and execute plans and projects of their choice. You have given us the opportunity to begin to change the issues that matter most to the students. These innovations are the beginning of the students changing the world in which they live”

    With gratitude,
