  • Back To School With a New Look!

    Funded Aug 30, 2022

A million of thank you for making the school year a successful one. I'm so thankful for all of your continuous support and generosity. It's because of you my students felt welcomed, valued, and safe in their environment. One of the materials that they truly loved was the sensory liquid tiles. I placed it in our calming area and they absolutely loved it. They would go to the calming area to feel the tiles, step on it, or just to observe it. Also, the stuffed animals was a hit! During independent reading time, they would grab a plush toy as a book buddy. It made them feel comfortable holding their stuffed animal while reading. Thank you so much!”

  • Turn On Your Listening Ears!

    Funded Aug 3, 2019

Thank you so much for your tremendous support and generous donations towards my project. This project has profoundly impacted my students in numerous ways.

Having a listening center with enjoyable children's books really helped to engage my students in reading. My students are now able to listen to books on cds that provides a read-aloud model. It has helped improve my students reading with fluency and using expression while reading. Having a listening center in the classroom is absolutely amazing!

When students are provided with books that are highly interested, it helps them improve their reading skills. I have a few students who are struggling readers and having a listening center really motivated them to read and practice decoding unfamiliar words. Thank you again, for providing this essential resource in my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

  • Surfing Into Second Grade

    Funded Jul 29, 2018

I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude for your help in donating to my classroom. Thank you so much for your support in helping me fulfill my goals which was to provide significant materials that my students need in order to learn and have the best access to education. Your donation has impacted my students tremendously. My students are utilizing all of the materials- the flexible seating, magnetic dry erase easel and therapeutic putty. Because of these, my students are able to work well in their classroom environment.

When my students first entered the classroom, I informed them that I have a surprise. I hid all the materials under a cloth. One student asked me with excitement in his voice, "What is the surprise?" I uncovered the surprise and their faces lit up like the lights on a Christmas tree. One student replied, "This is the best surprise ever!" I explained to them that these materials were given to us by people who are generous and care about how they learn in the classroom.

In my classroom, I have students who have sensory needs. The therapeutic putty serves as a great tool for them to be hands on, and manipulate it in different ways. One student stated, "I love how this feels!" The flexible seating accommodated one of my student's attention difficulties. The flexible seating gave him the comfort that he needs to be attentive to a task/lesson. Lastly, the magnetic easel is used every day by my students. They each have their own magnetic name plate and have to check in every morning, which gives them a sense of autonomy.

Once again, thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom. Your generous deeds will go a long way. You have not only impacted my students but lifelong learners. We appreciate you all!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Obi

My students are extraordinary learners. Each child has a unique learning style. As a teacher, it is important to accommodate each student based on their individual needs. Providing students with materials that they need will be conducive to their learning. It is my number one priority to make sure each child needs are met and they can demonstrate their skills to their best potential. Sensory and visual materials will benefit my students because they are hands on and visual learners. The materials my students need are theraputty, flexible seating and dry erase easel. Theraputty will help strengthen their dexterity, spatial awareness and social emotional regulation. Flexible seating is another classroom essential. Flexible seating is a great way of establishing autonomy with students. It allows them to take control of their learning environment by giving them a choice to choose preferable seating. My students have sensory deficits and sitting on a chair may not be the best for them. The flexible spots will provide my students with the comfort they need to be successful in the classroom. Lastly, the dry erase easel is significant for my students. My students enjoy writing on boards. The easel I am requesting is two sided and has a magnetic board, tubs, and can hold big books. It is a great classroom tool and it can be utilize in many different ways.
