The Great Gatsby
Funded Mar 3, 2024We are thrilled to share with you the incredible impact that your support has had on our students through the introduction of new texts, such as "The Great Gatsby." Your generosity has not only provided our students with engaging and thought-provoking literature but has also opened up a world of new skills and lessons for them to explore.
We facilitate lively discussions where students can share their thoughts, interpretations, and personal connections to the text. These discussions encourage critical thinking and help students develop their own unique perspectives.
The novel has broadened the horizons of many students, exposing them to a different time period, culture, and societal issues. This exposure has sparked curiosity and a desire to explore more diverse literature.
Through the challenging yet rewarding nature of "The Great Gatsby," we have witnessed significant improvements in our students' reading skills. They have become more adept at analyzing complex texts, making inferences, and engaging in critical thinking.

Persepolis Books for High School ELA
Funded Sep 20, 2023We are thrilled to share with you the incredible impact that your generous support has had on our students through the introduction of new texts, particularly the graphic novel "Persepolis." Your contribution has not only provided our students with engaging and thought-provoking reading materials but has also facilitated the development of essential skills and lessons.
The combination of images and text in "Persepolis" has allowed our students to develop their visual literacy skills. They have learned to analyze and interpret the visual elements, such as the use of color, composition, and symbolism, to gain a deeper understanding of the story.
Through the narrative of "Persepolis," our students have been exposed to the rich cultural heritage of Iran. They have gained insights into the experiences of individuals living in a different cultural and historical context, fostering empathy and a broader worldview. We facilitate book discussions, both in small groups and as a whole class, to encourage critical thinking and deeper engagement with the texts. These discussions provide opportunities for students to share their interpretations, ask questions, and explore different viewpoints.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, as it has allowed us to provide our students with enriching reading experiences and valuable learning opportunities. Your contribution has made a significant difference in their educational journey, fostering a love for reading and empowering them with essential skills for lifelong learning.”

Funded Oct 15, 2023We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your generous contributions to our project. Your support has made a significant difference in the lives of our students, providing them with valuable resources that have enhanced their learning experience. In this update, we would like to share with you the impact your donations have had on our classroom and the exciting projects and lessons that lie ahead.
One of the most exciting ways we have been utilizing the new resources is through a classroom art project. With the canvas, paint, and paint brushes you provided, our students have been able to unleash their creativity and express themselves through painting. They have been working on creating their own masterpieces, exploring different techniques and styles. This project has not only allowed them to develop their artistic skills but has also served as a means of self-expression and personal growth.
Looking ahead, we have plans to further expand our students' learning opportunities. With the fidget cubes and earbuds, we aim to create a calm and focused environment during independent work time, allowing students to concentrate and excel in their studies. Additionally, the mini basketballs will be used to promote physical activity and teamwork during recess, fostering a healthy and active lifestyle among our students.
Once again, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for your support and generosity. Your contributions have made a lasting impact on our students' education and well-being. We are excited about the progress we have made and the future possibilities that lie ahead. Together, we are creating a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for our students.”

Learning Life Skills in High School
Funded Sep 16, 2023Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we have been able to provide our students with a range of new resources that have had a significant impact on their learning experience. These resources include a sewing kit, cooking utensils, a finance book, a fashion book, the game of life, and a laundry set.
In our classroom, we have integrated these resources into various projects and lessons, allowing our students to gain practical skills and knowledge in different areas. Let me share with you a specific classroom project that showcases the utilization of these resources.
Looking ahead, we have planned a continuation of our current classroom lesson on financial literacy. The finance book has been instrumental in teaching our students about budgeting, saving, and making informed financial decisions. In the next phase of this lesson, we will be simulating real-life financial scenarios using the game of life. This interactive game will allow our students to apply the concepts they have learned and make financial choices that will impact their virtual lives.
Additionally, we will be incorporating the laundry set into our life skills curriculum. Our students will learn how to properly sort, wash, and care for their clothes. This practical knowledge will empower them to become more independent and responsible individuals.
We are incredibly grateful for the support of our donors, as these new resources have opened up a world of possibilities for our students. Their generosity has not only enriched our classroom but also empowered our students to develop essential life skills. We look forward to continuing this journey of learning and growth with their support.”

Funded Jan 30, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity. Many students were able to use these books as extra enrichment and independent reading. We used these books in the spring to enhance student interest.
Reading is not everyone's favorite subject, and these books certainly encouraged even the most reluctant readers. These graphic novels were on a range of topics that helped students learn about social studies, mental health, being new to a school, and racism. There were so many connections to current and past events, and critical conversations were sparked while reading these books.
The increased student participation and learning was encouraging, and students will enjoy these books for years to come! Again, thank you for your generosity.”
