Be Our Guest!
Funded May 11, 2024There are absolutely no words to express how grateful I am for every single donation. With your generous donations my students were able to create/ choose their own costume pieces. They were able to distinguish each one of their characters and transform easily between villagers, enchanted objects, and being "Human Again".
I still remember when I announced to the cast and crew that we were fully funded how ecstatic they were. Each day they asked me when their packages would arrive. They could not wait to try on their costumes/ build their costumes and rehearse in them so they could fully transform into their characters.
For many students this was their first experience on stage in front of a live audience and for returning students it was their first experience on stage without any recordings or health restrictions. Thank you for giving my students this precious gift on their musical journey. Our show truly could not have happened without all of you.”

Funded Sep 3, 2020I hope this message finds you all well. Thank you so much for your contribution to Literacy Through Spanish and Theatre! Both my in-person students and my fully remote students have benefited from your contributions. Thanks to your contribution, my eighth-grade Spanish students each have their own Spanish/English Dictionary and my eighth-grade Theatre students have their own Actor's Thesaurus. These books will not only help them out now as students but will also help enhance their career moving forward.
Due to the current climate, all my eighth-grade classes occur online. My students have found these books to be a lifeline for them because not only does it help them with their schoolwork and enhance their skills, but it also gives their eyes a chance to learn without having to look at a computer, tablet, or phone screen in front of them. I have noticed an improvement in their work and have even seen their confidence level go up when they submit their Spanish work and perform.
As a teacher, one of my highlights this year was seeing my student's eyes light up when I handed them their own Spanish/English dictionary and Actor's Thesaurus. They were beyond thrilled to know that these books would be new additions to their home library, and they can use them towards their academic success. Thank you so much for your generosity and for making this a possibility for them. I hope that you and your families are safe and wish you all the best in the new year.”

Funded Aug 11, 2020I hope this message finds you all well. Thank you so much for your contribution to building our Spanish classroom. Both my in-person students and my fully remote students have benefited from your contributions. Students have been able to learn numbers in a creative way through "Vamos a Contar Los Monstruos". We have also learned about the famous Puerto Rican Coqui through the story "Coquí ¡Hola! Hello" during Hispanic Heritage Month. Their colorful pages definitely helped bring the students into each unit. The textbook has helped so much with developing a curriculum that fits all of my eighth-grade students.
Due to the current climate, most of my student's Spanish Classes occur online. The books that my students have been introduced to so far have been through read alouds on Google Meets. The stories have made the students laugh and enjoy learning their new topics. When the students return to in-person learning they will be able to take out the books we have read and other books from our new library to help them move forward in learning the Spanish Language.
As we move forward with our other units I know that your library is going to help them embrace the Spanish language even more. They are already looking forward to when they can read books from our new library thanks to your contribution. I hope that you and your families are safe and have a happy holiday season.”

Funded Mar 9, 2020Thank you so much for your donations! We were able to receive our iPads prior to schools closing. My students were so excited when we received our package. They were entranced with the many adventures that awaited them in tech theatre. Including but not limited to access to programs like iMovie, GarageBand, iTunes, and QLab. All of these features along with the many others that are offered through the iPad would have helped with our school musical Aladdin Jr and their digital theatre projects on Prospero.
Through these products my students will be able to create their own movies. Their current project was to create a digital piece of theatre based on a current event that they felt was important to bring awareness to. Through GarageBand they could create sound effects for their movies or form sound cues for Aladdin Jr. Through iTunes my students would be able to run music for their rehearsals and with QLab they can organize their sound cues successfully for their show.
With school closure I have been able to use the iPads to help guide students with their own iPad use for remote learning. Being able to see what they see has been a huge help and has made remote learning more accessible for my students. My theatre students are very excited to return back to school to use these iPads and continue our theatrical studies in new fun and innovative ways. Thank you again for making this possible! I look forward to updating you on my students adventures as they continue learning.”

Funded Dec 3, 2019There are not enough words to express how much your contributions have meant to my students and I. It is overwhelming how much your contributions have already shaped my theatre classroom and our production of Aladdin Jr. We tested out some of the products during our winter concert and currently in rehearsals. Each item helped make each run a success. The students were able to use the walkie-talkies to communicate backstage, the costume rack to keep themselves organized, the lighting equipment to help emphasis different moments in the show, and the fog liquid to help keep our fog machine running. My students are looking forward to tech week this year, where they can use all their new materials fully.
I still remember the day all the packages arrived to the school. I have never seen so many students excited to carry boxes up the stairs. It was as if it was their birthday. They treated each item with care and showed off to each other what their box contained. My technical theatre students were happy that their little department was growing and that they could finally use what they have learned in their readings in rehearsal.
As our show inches closer, we will be using the items more and more. My middle school students are using these items as an opportunity to spread the technical knowledge they know to their younger cast mates so that when they graduate the program can keep growing. Your generosity and support for arts education is very appreciative. We could not have reached our goal without your support.”
