My students are all absolutely amazing, with go-getter attitudes. Despite all of the adversity they face daily (inner city, at-risk, impoverished), they always strive to better themselves and the campus. There is a real drive and initiative at TJ and my kids are paving the way to put TJ back on the map with the journalism program; PATRIOT NATION NEWS is the fastest growing elective on our campus (something that has been rather dead for years), and my kids are the ones that are leading the way! Last year, they successfully revived The Reveille (the school's newspaper), and sold more yearbooks than ever! They have requested a specialized photojournalism class and generated interest among the students (some that weren't even involved in the yearbook or newspaper).
