  • Boosting Reading Engagement with Flexible Seating and High Interest Books

    Funded Nov 15, 2024

I want to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation to my Donors Choose project, "Boosting Reading Engagement with Flexible Seating and High Interest Books." Your support is making a huge difference in the lives of my 3rd Grade students.

Thanks to your kindness, my classroom is now equipped with flexible seating options that allow my students to learn in an environment that is comfortable and conducive to their individual needs. Additionally, the high-interest books you helped fund are already sparking excitement and fostering a love for reading in my students, which will have a lasting impact on their educational journey.

It is donors like you who truly make a difference, and I am so grateful for your belief in the importance of providing students with the resources they need to thrive. Your contribution is helping to create a space where all students feel empowered and inspired.

Thank you once again for your support. Your generosity will continue to have a positive ripple effect in the classroom for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McClary

  • Read to Succeed!

    Funded Jan 1, 2017

Thank you so much for contributing to Read to Succeed! The students and teachers have noticed the positive results of using the program, and the computer has helped to show teachers and students the results.

The students are excited to discuss the poll questions in Achieve 3000 that are asked before the article is read. It allows us to have rich discussions on what we think about the topic and why. It has allowed us as a class to get to know each other better.

The great thing about using this program and having the computer to model the comprehension strategies is that students are able to take ownership of their learning. The initial test in the program that the students take on the computer puts the students on the lexile level in which they performed. That way, students are reading on their individual level and they are able to increase levels the more practice they have with the program.

Thank you so much for donating the computer to us and our school! We can't wait to see the positive results of our end of the year test.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McClary

  • Camera...ACTION!!!

    Funded Sep 1, 2011

Thank you so much for your donation to fund the digital camera! I have been able to take very clear pictures of the students individually and in groups during school functions. These pictures have been used to decorate our bulletin board, and they have been displayed in our local newspaper.

Students are able to view the pictures on our class website and I can easily order prints to give to the students and their families. They will also be used in our school yearbook.

Thank you so much for contributing to our class and school. The students and the community love seeing the students "in action!"”

  • Rapping and Remixing with Math

    Funded Aug 1, 2010

Thank you so much for your donation to my 2nd grade class! We have enjoyed using the flip video camera for our learning. Not only has our class enjoyed the use of the flip video camera, but the parents have been able to enjoy it as well.

Our class loves singing songs to help with our learning. I have been able to make neat slideshows that include the videos of songs that we have recorded. Please visit our website by going to www.gwd50.org. Choose Mathews Elementary, staff, then my name. There is a link labeled "slideshows."

The camera has been so much fun and we look forward to using more and more as the year progresses.

Thank you so much for your support with my class :)”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McClary
