The best way I can summarize how I approach my work as a special education teacher was so eloquently put by C.S. Lewis: "The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts." My life's work revolves around closing that learning gap, to provide lifelines for otherwise trapped knowledge and creativity. Having a safe and loving environment, one students are reluctant leave, tells me that I'm doing something right. Providing them the resources that will help them shape their strengths and tackle their challenges with confidence is all I strive for.
