  • Moving the Earth in our Gym!

    Funded Oct 26, 2016

I can't thank you enough from the bottom of my heart for filling this void in our physical education program! The impact has been incredible. Just seeing the sheer joy and amazement on the students faces when they walk in the gym and two big balls (sometimes bigger than they are) are hanging out and rolling around, is EXCITING!!!!

Hopefully you can tell by our pictures that we were having an blast playing different games. We tried to get a complete action shot of the first graders completing a team challenge. Needless to say I don't think I know who laughed more- me or them.

It also was a learning lesson for me. We played a game where they had to name who they passed the ball to. It was eye opening to see how many students go through the day without making connections with other students, some of them struggled to know all the names of the students in their class. It brought tears to my eyes.

    Once again- THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Prescott

  • Take Me Out to the Ballpark!

    Funded Dec 2, 2015

Thank you again for your donation to my project! My students are over the moon about having new batting equipment. The older students have never had adjustable batting tee's and are excited to be able to practice at the right height.

When the materials came we immediately got them out and practiced a little in the gym. I was shocked at how many of my 3rd graders during that class had no idea how to hold a baseball bat! A sport I thought every kid could play! They were so curious and then extremely proud when they could hit the ball correctly off the tee!

I also have a lot of boys and girls who play baseball and softball who are anxious to get started with these materials in the next few weeks. They have started their own baseball and softball practices on local teams and want to show me what they know!

With these materials I'll be able to grow my physical education program from just practicing with whiffle balls to actually having students who know how to properly play the game of baseball. Who knows- I may have the next Babe Ruth!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Prescott

  • Kicking up the Learning!

    Funded Oct 6, 2015

My students are EXCITED to use the soccer balls and goals!!! I had the goals set up in the gym in a corner and every student has come in to the gym and IMMEDIATELY asked if we were going to use them! Then they see the soccer balls- once they get to use them they are commenting on how much better for dribbling skills they are than the playground balls we were having to use.

It's only been less than 24 hours with the new balls and goals and the impact is already tremendous! Students have had confidence to try other soccer skills and you should hear them cheer when they shoot the ball in the goal. Not only are their skills improving but their overall confidence in athletic skills and appreciation is improving as well!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Prescott

  • Mind, Body, Ready! Yoga and Movement For All!

    Funded Jul 8, 2015

I can't thank you enough for funding the instructional yoga mats for my physical education program. They have added a timely and relevant addition to the curriculum that keeps the students engaged.

Since receiving the yoga mats students have asked daily (even stopping me in the hallways) to ask if we are "doing" yoga in PE that day. They are excited to do yoga poses to help with their developing balance, weight transfer skills and stretching. The yoga mats have provided a visual for students to self check that they are doing poses correctly as well as given them a needed exposure to movement that can last them a life time! When they see the mats out they come in to the gym excited to learn and many times start stretching and seeing which pose they would like to do without any instruction from myself.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Prescott

  • More Super Heros Needed for Super Learners!

    Funded Oct 20, 2013

Sorry I'm so late with this but we've been busy!!!!! Since receiving the fabulous keyboards our district then bought a typing program that all students are expected to use. The keyboards have now more than helped my first grade classroom!!!

The keyboards have given them an edge over other students in picking up typing so quickly!!! The large letters and colored keys have allowed them to memorize where each letter is much more quickly. It was evident when they did a typing lesson in our computer lab- which has normal dark keyboards. The students were able to start typing away with ease!

Lastly was an unexpected benefit of the keyboards. A student of mine is blind in one eye and doesn't have perfect vision in the other. The larger letters have allowed her to keep up with the other students! She doesn't see herself different when it comes to using the computer. She can navigate it just like everyone else!

    THANK YOU!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Prescott
