A Touch of Hope
Funded Jun 8, 2022The impact of my project "A Touch Of Hope" has far exceeded my expectations. Teachers and other staff are coming from different locations in the building to utilize our sensory walk. The students enjoy this as they take their journey down the hallway to my classroom. I waited by the door to get reactions from students big and small and it was smiles and giggles across the board.
Not only is the sensory walk in place for children to use as a fun way to get from point A to point B, it is foremost in place for learning and stemming. They learn to follow directions and possibly overcome an obstacle that prior to this sensory walk they had no knowledge of how to conquer.
The collection of "Spot" materials that we received has been very beneficial. Student have learned how to describe the emotions they are feeling and how it being a better friend truly feels. These books will be a constant resource in my classroom.
The busy alligator board was a huge hit as well, especially with my smaller children who may have sensory issues or just need to stimulate for a bit.
I have heard nothing but positive feedback and look very much forward to someday having this in more than one location. My next project will again consist of all things sensory in hopes to incorporate this onto more than just the floor. The staff and students are most thankful for opportunities such as this.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lula
