  • Mindfulness Corners for Newly Arrived Immigrant Students

Thank you so much! I and the students are incredibly grateful for your support of our mindfulness corners in our classrooms! The students who Lu have a safe space and resources to use when needed. Please know your donation will make a significant difference in the education of our newly arrived immigrant youth. • International Newcomer Classroom Mindfulness Corners

    Funded May 27, 2023

Thank you again for supporting our project. Our students are feeling much more supported and comfortable in classes.

Being a school that focuses on the needs of recently immigrated schools, many of our students come from trauma, unstable, ill-equipped homes, and work long hours at jobs after school. At the same time we know these students are bright and have amazing gifts if supported appropriately. These mindfulness corners have allowed our students to take time to recenter and then come back to learn. We've had students take a 15-minute nap, play with fidgets, recover from headaches, step away from confrontations, and just take a break in these spaces while still feeling a part of the classroom community and/or stigmatized. We recognize it is okay to not be okay and your generosity has supported that message.

In addition, we have seen an improvement in attendance and engagement by the students in the classes. Instead of not coming to school they are coming and just taking a short break. Instead of checking out completely, they are taking some time and space and then returning to learning. THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Lipmen

  • How Do You Teach History Without Maps?

    Funded Jan 2, 2008

I hope this e-mail finds you well. I cannot explain how grateful my students and I are for your incredibly generous donation!

My students, who often lack many geography skills, will now be able to learn from modern maps! These classroom map will not only assist with our unit that directly relates to Geography but also continue to be used as a resource for years to come!

Once again, my students and I thank you and hope you have an incredible new year!

    With much gratitude,
