I have 19 students that come from low-income, inner city homes. Our school is on the smaller side, with about 500 students in grades Pre-K through 5th. Our students are a mix of African American, Hispanic, West Indian, Haitian, White, and mixed race. Even though we are inner-city, we are considered a neighborhood school and the majority of our students walk to school, often with older siblings bringing their younger siblings, cousins, and neighbors with them because their parents are working. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch every day.
