The students of Kelvyn Park come in your typical High School variety pack: you have your shy kids, your loud ones, leaders and followers, jocks and art kids, and of course your class clowns. But most importantly, you have a community of students who come to school and receive love, support, and feedback from the teachers and staff. Our students want engaging instruction, arts-infused projects, to design their own projects, to have a hand in what our school looks and feels like. That's where I come in. As one of KP's art teachers, an arts-infused projects curriculum instructor, as well as school curator, I try to give kids the buy-in and freedom to feel like they have a voice in our school community. Our classroom is a cozy place to incubate larger ideas that impact the feelings and belonging of all those who walk through our doors. Art can change lives; we are proving it at Kelvyn Park, every day.
