  • Read Around the World

    Funded Jan 16, 2024

The gift of literacy is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children. Thank you for your support in giving this gift to my students. My students were so excited about the new books. The greatest excitement came from seeing their languages, STEAM topics, and characters that remind them of themselves and their families.

When I teach students literacy, I know it is important to build on students' interests and make sure that texts are culturally relevant. Thanks to your support, I can engage my students and they love to read even more. In fact, my students have found reading in my classroom as a great way to balance their time with Media and technology. Thanks to this project my classroom is diverse, multilingual, multicultural and tolerant. As students learn about the cultures of others, they become more compassionate and have less fears about socializing.

Many of the books I have gained in this project have served as great conversation pieces for staff and students who enter my room. We could not have accomplished this without you. Thank you very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Khalid

  • Keep Calm & Stay Safe & Warm

    Funded Jan 12, 2024

As the weather starts to get warmer, I will not forget how you made sure my students were warm throughout the winter seasons. From the moment I opened the packages my students were so excited. Many of them did not have hats, gloves, or scarves prior to this project. However, thanks to your generous support all of my students were kept warm with their outerwear. On days when there was an unexpected drop in temperature my students knew where to come for support with this. We could not have done this without generous donors like you.

In addition to outerwear accessories, my students had warm socks, food, snacks, and sanitary supplies to keep them healthy throughout the cold and flu season. My students are very appreciative of the support. Thanks to this project my students are now finding ways that they can share and give when they have extra of something. They are also learning that if they do not have extra they can always share a kind word or a smile. Thank you for teaching my students through your compassion!”

  • From Stock to Store

    Funded Nov 11, 2023

Your support has truly made a difference in the lives of my students. My students are excited about financial literacy and even more excited that they get to set up and work in the class store. The students are already hard at work creating posters and for sale signs. They created posters with positive messages encouraging other students to do their best and earn in class. I am excited that I am able to give students this crucial learning experience while they are young thanks to you.

It is your generous donations, that made this work possible. For that, we are eternally grateful. Thank you so much for caring enough to make sure that my young, inner-city, New York scholars learn financial literacy!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Khalid

  • All in the Presentation

    Funded Jun 26, 2023

We are truly grateful for your support for this project. The new technology has made a huge difference in our classroom for a number of reasons. Presenting is a significant part of how learning is demonstrated in our classroom. It gives students an opportunity to solidify new knowledge, express new understanding, and develop speaking and listening skills.

The new karaoke machine has quickly become a sensation in my classroom. One of my shyest students finds it a challenge to project her voice while trying to overcome her fears of public speaking. The microphone allows her to be heard despite her timidness. Having two microphones allows students presenting on the same topic to have a joint presentation where one peer can support another.

All students feel excited about presenting now and the bluetooth technology provides then with a soundtrack for their presentation. Students are also able to share their oral presentations as prerecorded audio to play for the class. Thanks to your generous support my students are already growing into great public speakers.”

  • Inspired, Healthy, And Ready To Learn

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

Thank you so much for giving to my project. This project was special to me because it was about making sure that my students have what they need, so they can stop worrying and spend more time learning. My students were very excited when they saw everything that was purchased for them. All of my students that did not have hats and gloves this winter, were able to get them. I had students that would not come to school when it was cold. Now, they come because they know they will be warm on their way.

My students love the face masks I give them. They were able to wear them in the cold and flu, and allergy season to slow the spread of germs. The designs make them feel good about wearing the masks at times when they may really need them. The tissues help them stay clean without irritating their skin.

The food has had a great impact on students. They are not at all shy or embarrassed to ask for snacks when they missed breakfast, or they just didn't have enough to eat. Thanks to your generosity my students are truly healthy and ready to learn.”

  • Keep Calm and Learn Tech Safe

    Funded Nov 11, 2021

We are truly grateful for your support in bringing this project to life. This project was designed to help my students continue to learn technology, while taking the necessary safety precautions. When my students first saw the materials, they were excited. They knew that having these resources, would allow them to sit closer together and help each other without getting sick.

The face shields and privacy partitions allowed my students to resume partner and small group activities in the classroom which were halted during the pandemic. We now have enough headsets for all students to engage and focus during lessons and we are able to keep the technology lab clean and sanitized throughout the day with the cleaning wipes we obtained.

My students and I know we could not have accomplished this without your support and generosity. We appreciate you!”

  • Back to Basics

    Funded Oct 27, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting my class. When my students saw the materials they were so excited. Many of them are learning from home and did not have the tools to adequately engage. Thanks to your support that has changed. The books I have are culturally relevant to my students and my students can now respond to questions and practice writing on their dry erase clipboards. We could not have accomplished these changes without your support.

On behalf of my students and families, we are eternally grateful for the support. We look forward to continuing to enhance the learning experience with the remaining resources. Thank you so much again for your generosity!”

  • Technology Is Key!

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

It brings me great joy to reflect on all of the kindness and generosity shown to my students. Words cannot express how grateful My students and I for the support. The work of a teacher can be challenging at times, however having the tools to teach and help students be successful should not be the challenge. For this reason, I feel that donors to education are truly heroes.

You helped save the future of my students and for that I am appreciative. Thank you so much for your support. I promise my students will put their new tools to good use and have a truly engaging learning experience in technology.”

  • Put the Art and Technology in S.T.E.A.M.

    Funded Oct 25, 2019

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. Words can not describe the look on my students faces when they saw the new materials. They were so excited and eager to get started with robotics and they were able to begin using the new materials right away.

Thanks to you my students are now beginning to compare old and new technology used to make art and explore misconceptions about what technology is. The STEAM club students have also began their very first Robotics lesson: programming robots to drive and using lines of code to program them. I have students knocking on my door at times when they are not in class to come back and work with the new tools. We could not have accomplished this without your generous support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Khalid

  • Learn It, Capture It, Show It, Share It!

    Funded Aug 19, 2019

Thank you for helping me bring a STEAM vision for my students into a reality. Thanks to you, I now have a photography station in my STEM lab. My students are learning about the process of making photographs. My students are also now in a STEAM Club that exposes them to a variety of activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. I would have to say the digital camera and the digital photo frame is a classroom favorite.

My science lovers are really enjoying the weather forecast station. They will learn about temperature, climate and barometric pressure. Science is an important component in the STEAM theme.

The new interlocking mats allow me a quick place to gather with students at their level to model techniques and procedures. I have students that do not like sitting in standard chairs and they now have another seating option that is better than the cold, hard floor. It turns out the mats are also a great space for playing and building activities to address the engineering component. The headphones also help students to listen and focus on their own work without getting distracted by others.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Khalid

My students range in grades from Prekindergarten through 4th grade. They attend an urban public school in New York State. Many of them have learning disabilities and limited resources at home. My students depend upon me to teach them how to use computers and technology for learning. They have limited resources and technology at home. Some of my students have used technology in the past to play games. I have to be creative in teaching them how to use technology to learn, solve a problem or create something entirely new. I want to show my students that through the use of technology almost anything is possible. In the past, some of my students disabilities have prevented them from being able to fully participate in class. I know that with the right technological resources all of my students will be able to have access they need to to have the kind of twenty-first century learning experience they deserve.
