My students attend an inner city Massachusetts public school that focuses on student leadership. Each year, I tell my students that graphing calculators are a requirement for the class, but many students simply cannot afford such an expensive item. So each year I always find myself asking those few students with calculators to share, but the reality is that they each need their own calculator in order to fully participate in the work we are doing. It is nearly impossible, for 3 students gathered around a screen the size of a post-it to fully benefit from what they are seeing.
