Wiggle and Wobble
Funded Sep 18, 2024The joy on the student's faces when I unpacked the stools was indescribable. They never thought that people would donate to their classroom so they can have different options for sitting around the classroom.
The stools and the wobble cushions have impacted their ability to concentrate while working. The students can rock back and forth on the stool and have something tactile with the cushion. The cushion also makes it much more comfortable when the students work in groups and choose to sit on the floor. These items have also influenced other teachers around the building to try using flexible seating in their classroom and have had parents question if this would help their child at home.”

Funded Oct 12, 2022This year's 5th grade group of students had a great time learning about our solar system and the Milky Way Galaxy. Like all students, they had many questions about the unknown. I hope I inspired them to continue their research and follow through with their interest in the solar system.
Additionally, we participated in a virtual field trip with a NASA Astronaut. The students were able to engage with the astronaut and ask questions. After this interaction, students were able to use the donated materials to build a model of a telescope. Even our two Assistant Principal's came to join in the fun.
Thank you so much for your donations to our classroom. We have enough materials to continue this project next school year with the rising 4th grade class. I hope they enjoy the project just as much as this current group of 5th graders.”

Funded Aug 10, 2022Thank you for your kind donations to my classroom. My students are so much fun to teach every single day. They are very lively and full of intelligence and creativity. They have a deep desire to learn and work together.
When the materials arrived, the students were thrilled to learn what they will be doing in the coming months. They have seen my previous classes work on these projects and see them on a daily basis adhered to the walls of our hallways. They were very happy to know they will soon be part of another "Lasting Legacy" project.
After we finish our upcoming hands-on projects, they students will start to make their plan for their mosaic tiles. I'm excited to see their very artistic side shine once more. I am so happy that I will have this group of students for two years and will have the pleasure of watching them flourish.”

Funded Nov 1, 2021We love our Wobble Stools! There's no need to take turns anymore! Every student who wants to sit on a Wobble Stool has the opportunity. You'd be surprised how much these stools really do help "take the wiggles out" of children. From experience, these stools help improve concentration and handwriting.
There have been many times the principal has called me to ask to borrow a stool for a students needing assistance in her office. I now have other teachers who have realized how beneficial they are in the classroom and have purchased them for their classrooms.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We love "wobbling" in our class!”

Science All Day!
Funded Oct 25, 2021Thank you for your kind gesture! The students have loved using the resources so far in our classroom. We have learned so much and they have thoroughly enjoyed working hands on in the labs we have conducted. The connections they have made will last a life time!
The students have used the light bulbs, light bulb bases, battery holders and batteries to made many kinds of circuits. They have used the pots to grow plants outside of our classroom and the prisms to understand light reflection and refraction! Learning hands on is the best way!
Sincerely,
Ms. Clifford and and my students!”

Funded Jan 19, 2021Once again, THANK YOU for your generous donations to our classroom. The students successfully engaged in their science labs during their 4th grade year and are well prepared for next years science activities. We will continue to use these materials for their 5th grade year.
The students were so excited to see the new materials. We learned about sound energy and the different vibrations from each of the tuning forks, we used the electrical equipment to engage in building circuits and making battery powered windmills and houses and the fifth graders used the water bottle rocket launching materials to test their rockets. The students won third place in the district competition against all other public, private and charter schools.
In addition, the students who entered the science fair to represent our school won gold and bronze at the district science fair level. With your help, we worked on projects for Fairchild and won a Bronze recognition. We are still awaiting the results of our participation in our Dream in Green competitions.”

Funded Oct 9, 2019Thank you so much for your kindness! It was such a surprise to have this donation. Not only do I love my students, but I love my school. Making our new butterfly garden look better by adding these stepping stones has made quite an impression. Our administrators, teachers and students are tired of constantly pulling weeds to gain access to our beautiful garden. Once the stepping stones are fully dried, they will be laid in the garden to create a decorative path for all to enjoy.
As soon as I told the students our project was funded, they couldn't wait to start. When the materials started arriving, it's all they could talk about. The hardest part was the students making decisions about what their design would be. They want to leave something meaningful and are excited to see the stepping stones when they come back next year to pick up their younger siblings.
Once again, thank you for your kindness! Your donation will really make an impact on the beautification of our school and our beautiful new butterfly garden.”

Funded Sep 9, 2019Thank your for your kindness! Your generosity has made a huge difference in my classroom. The students have been so excited since the moment the project was fully funded! We were able to use the microscopes this past week while we were investigating rocks and minerals.
We have used the microscopes to also investigate soil samples and sediments from a weathering and erosion lab. We can't wait until our next opportunity to use them again.
We have also used the camera attachment during one of our after school clubs for a Fairchild Garden challenge with leaves.”

Funded Nov 16, 2018Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for your generosity. My 4th grade students this year are thrilled to have flexible seating in their classroom. My classroom has now become a model for other teachers in the building. Students and teachers from all around the school come to see my classroom. I've taught so many teachers and interns about the possibilities with donorschoose.org. My principal even comes in my classroom to just "hang out" and sit in the "fun classroom".
I love allowing students to have flexibility of movement in the classroom. Using flexible seating is not just fun for the students, it allows me to identify when children are stressed out or frustrated with a task. I can then better assist them.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for your kind gesture. Hands on math makes it make more sense to young and impressionable students. They enjoy using the manipulatives so much and have had so many "ah ha!" moments. It's a pleasure to see those moments in a the mind of a young student.
So far, I have been able to use these supplies with two groups of students. Having these magnetic supplies also makes learning more fun and provides them an opportunity to get up and move to the board to solve their problems.
The document camera makes teaching easier since my teacher computer is on the opposite side of the room from the Smart Board.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity.”
