Our students are in need of literacy intervention supports. Technology resources allow students to access content with varied instruction based on learning styles, physical and social-emotional needs, and academic levels. Providing literacy intervention ensures that ALL students have multiple access points to ALL content. Technology support, including headphones and computer mouses, is an academic and behavioral scaffold that contributes to learning by boosting engagement and allowing personalized instruction to take place simultaneously within one classroom. Currently, many our students do not have headphone functionality that permits the use of microphones or noise cancellation leading to frustrations and loss of learning. Literacy is the backbone of learning. As a literacy teacher/advocate, it is my job to ensure that my students are supported in their development and learning by feeling empowered and successful beyond the classroom.
